The Opportunity:
Assist the Director of Aviation Safety and Aviation Safety Program Manager with ERAU investigations and reporting procedures for hazards, incidents, and accidents. Assist the Director of Aviation Safety with the implementation of all Aviation Safety programs - i.e. Safety Management System (SMS), Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP), Flight Data Monitoring (FDM) Program and Emergency Response Plan (ERP).
Safety Report Submissions (ASAP, event, fatigue reports)
- Analyze and investigate all ASAP, event, and fatigue reports
- Use all available Aviation Safety Department resources for investigations (i.e., ADS-B tracking, FDM program, ATC audio)
- Provide Aviation Safety Department with safety report trend analysis derived from safety report submissions
- Open and assign safety report submissions within the hazard reporting system for effective data analysis and tracking
Aviation Safety Programs (SMS, ASAP, FDM, ERP and Risk Management)
- Facilitate employee and student drug screening program
- Assist Director, Aviation Safety and ASPM with Flight Department Safety Management System (SMS) program with continuous monitoring and safety improvements
- Assist Director, Aviation Safety and ASPM in the management of the Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) for both flight crews and fleet maintenance, including managing the electronic reporting system
- Facilitate Aviation Safety Department's expanding Flight Data Monitoring (FDM) program, to include follow-up with exceedances to ASPM
- Conduct exceedance monitoring and trend analysis through Flight Data Analysis Software
- Seek and maintain timely communication methods in keeping with ongoing technological changes
Aviation Safety Data and Statistics (monthly, quarterly and annually)
- Manage all Aviation Safety databases and routinely conduct trend analysis based statistics within the hazard reporting system
- Oversee and manage the distribution of data statistics to key leadership personnel within the Flight Department and COA as appropriate
- Present aggregate data and trends collected and analyzed through FDM program
- Provide TSL data specific trend analysis statistics for routinely schedule team meetings
Aviation Safety Communications (newsletters, safety shorts, safety scoops and emails)
- Manage all outgoing Aviation Safety communications, publications and newsletters
- Oversee creative content for all Aviation safety media platforms
- Manage overall Aviation Safety Department safety communication strategy
Flight School Security Awareness Training
- Record keeping in accordance with 49 CFR 1552.23 (d)
- Prepare records for audit internal and Department of Homeland Security
- Run Internal audits
5% Administrative Duties
- Keeping an inventory of general supplies and ordering new materials as needed
- Complete and file expense reports
- Ensure records and files are up to date in accordance with internal policies and procedures
- Overseeing clerical tasks (e.g. booking travel, digitization or records, organizing of storage facilities, etc.)
- Organizing Safety Office personnel schedules and coordinating with the FAA

QualificationsRequired Education:
Bachelor's degree. Area of Study: Aeronautical Science/Aviation Safety/Related Field
Required Licenses, Certificates, and/or Security Clearances:
Private Pilot Certificate
Commercial Pilot Certificate Preferred
Required Skills, Knowledge, & Abilities:
- Must have knowledge of current 14 CFR Part 61, 91, 141 and 142 regulations
- Must exhibit strong communication skills and have the ability to effectively speak with employees/students regarding safety related events
- Must have effective interpersonal and organization skills
- Working knowledge of 14 CFR Part 5 Safety Management Systems (SMS)
- Ability to identify adverse trends and safety related hazards
- Working knowledge of FAA voluntary safety programs
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher
