Summary:

SSAI Seeks a Web Developer IV to support work at Jet Propulsion Laboratory, (JPL) National Aeronautics and Space Administration, (NASA) in Pasadena, CA. This candidate’s responsibilities include:

  • Work with team members of the Visualization Lab to create, maintain and enhance 3D applications to visualize spacecraft and planets.
  • Collaborate with application and engine developers, testers and artists.
  • Work independently and with limited supervision on key assignments.
  • Follow applicable policies, procedures and best practices.
  • Contribute as a team member on teams inside or outside the organization.
  • Communicate effectively.
  • Maintain development skill sets via continuous education and learning.
  • Work on various projects including visualizations of the Solar System, Exoplanets or Earth missions on different platforms.

Required Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related discipline with at least 3 years of related experience or Master’s degree with 1 year of experience.
  • Experience in the full life-cycle development of front-end apps.
  • Extensive knowledge in JavaScript ES6+, HTML5 and CSS3.
  • Proficient in object-oriented programming.
  • Experience building responsive websites.
  • Experience in creating self-contained, reusable, documented and testable modules and components.
  • Experience in supporting tooling – Git, GitHub.
  • Experience developing application within the Node ecosystem (npm, yarn) and experience with application packaging (Webpack).
  • Proficient in client-side JavaScript debugging.
  • Good knowledge of Unix, shell scripting and data manipulation.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience in data visualization.
  • Experience in mobile application development.
  • Experience in Three.js, Unity or other 3D engine.
  • Experience in WebGL.
  • Strong experience in mathematics for 3D graphics.
  • Experience in image processing.
  • Experience in writing shaders.
  • Experience with VR and AR.
  • Experience with 3D art pipelines and material composition.
  • Experience with Blender including scripting.
  • Experience with Front-end UI Frameworks (React, Vue, Angular, etc.).
  • Experience in User Interface development.
  • Experience in UI/UX design.
  • Experience in data pipelines.
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services.
  • Experience with additional programming languages (C++, C#, Python).
  • Experience with NAIF Spice.
  • Orbital Dynamics experience a plus.
