Job Title: Senior IT Asset Analyst

Location: Denver, Colorado

Reports To: Manager, IT Services

Department: Information Technology

Job Overview:

The Senior IT Asset Analyst plays a key role in managing IT assets throughout their lifecycle, including procurement, deployment, maintenance, and disposal. This position is responsible for optimizing the company’s IT asset management process, ensuring accuracy in budgeting, procurement, and the tracking of IT equipment, software, and services. The Senior IT Asset Analyst will work closely with cross-functional teams, including IT, Finance, and Legal, and will oversee vendor management and contract compliance.

This position requires expertise in IT asset management, financial analysis, contract negotiation, and the implementation and maintenance of a Configuration Management Database (CMDB). You will play a critical role in identifying and driving cost savings, ensuring compliance, and improving procurement and asset management processes across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. IT Asset Management & CMDB Maintenance:
    • Maintain and continuously improve the IT Asset Management process , ensuring accurate recording of all IT assets, including hardware, software, and licenses, in a Configuration Management Database (CMDB) or similar system.
    • Perform regular audits of IT assets to ensure the integrity and accuracy of asset data.
    • Implement processes to manage the lifecycle of IT assets, from procurement to decommissioning, and ensure compliance with internal controls.
    • Track the installed base of configuration items, ensuring the CMDB is up to date and accurate.
  2. Budgeting, Financial Analysis, and Cost Control:
    • Collaborate with the IT and Finance teams to track IT expenditures and monitor budgets .
    • Perform detailed financial analysis to optimize IT spend , identify cost-saving opportunities, and ensure spending is aligned with budget allocations.
    • Lead the budgeting process for IT assets, including the creation and revision of forecasts and spending models.
    • Participate in reoccurring budget reviews with IT leadership and Finance, providing detailed reporting on asset and budget performance.
  3. IT Procurement & Vendor Management:
    • Manage the IT procurement process , including sourcing, creating purchase orders (POs), and coordinating the delivery of IT goods and services.
    • Act as the primary point of contact for vendors, negotiating contracts and maintaining relationships to ensure the best value for the organization.
    • Oversee contract management , ensuring all IT contracts are approved, documented, and renewed on time. Collaborate with Legal and Finance to align contract terms with business needs.
    • Implement best practices for strategic sourcing, aligning with the company’s financial goals and ensuring compliance with procurement policies.
  4. Process Improvement & Reporting:
    • Develop and implement process improvements for IT asset management, procurement, and financial tracking. Identify gaps, streamline workflows, and ensure alignment with organizational goals.
    • Generate reports and dashboards on IT asset status, budget tracking, and cost savings using tools like Microsoft Excel , Power BI , or other reporting platforms.
    • Create and maintain detailed process maps , policies, and documentation for IT asset management, procurement, and budget tracking, ensuring they are easily accessible for IT and Finance teams.
  5. Cross-functional Collaboration & Project Management:
    • Collaborate with IT architects, solution providers, project managers, and IT administrators to assess technology spend , identify efficiencies , and drive alignment across the organization.
    • Serve as the project lead for IT asset management initiatives , ensuring all projects are completed on time, within scope, and on budget.
    • Engage with internal stakeholders from various business units to ensure their technology needs are met and aligned with procurement and asset management processes.

Qualifications and Requirements:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business , Information Technology, Finance, or a related field; or equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years of experience in IT asset management or related roles.
  • 2+ years of experience in financial analysis, budgeting, or strategic planning.
  • ITIL Foundations certification or IAITAM certification (preferred).
  • Experience with Cloud FinOps and Coupa (preferred).

Skills and Knowledge:

  • In-depth knowledge of IT Asset Management best practices , including software, hardware, and licensing.
  • Strong understanding of ITIL v4 and asset management methodologies.
  • Proficiency with IT Service Management (ITSM) platforms such as ServiceNow for asset tracking and management.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office , especially Excel , for financial tracking and reporting.
  • Experience with financial systems and budget monitoring , including knowledge of general ledger and accounts payable processes.
  • Strategic sourcing and vendor management experience, with the ability to negotiate and manage contracts effectively.
  • Strong knowledge of software licensing agreements (e.g., Microsoft, Cisco, Oracle) and compliance requirements.
  • Experience with Power BI or similar reporting tools (preferred).

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and trends to make informed decisions.
  • Strong communication skills for interacting with internal stakeholders and external vendors.
  • Project management skills to lead asset management initiatives and improvement projects.
  • Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
