Part-Time Immigration Associate Attorney (20-30 hours/week)

Who We’re Looking For:
We are seeking a bilingual licensed associate attorney fluent in both written and spoken Spanish. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, organized, and capable of managing their caseload with precision. They enjoy engaging with both clients and colleagues, taking the time to understand each client as a whole person, ensuring they feel supported and heard. Our associate understands that this client partnership is essential in helping them navigate the complex and ever-changing immigration legal system.
They take the initiative to develop a strategic plan at the outset of each case and continuously stay informed of any legal or policy changes to adjust the strategy as necessary. Our associate communicates these strategies clearly to both clients and the legal team, ensuring everyone is aligned throughout what can often be a lengthy process.
Strong oral and written communication skills are essential for this role. Our associate understands how to tailor their communication to the specific audience, whether it’s USCIS, EOIR judges, clients, or colleagues.
They are confident in conducting research and working independently but are also comfortable seeking input or collaborating when faced with complex or unfamiliar issues to ensure the best outcomes for our clients.
Our associate values teamwork and knows how to delegate effectively, fostering a collaborative approach to case management.
Responsibilities:
- Represent clients in Immigration Court, USCIS, and DOS with a focus on aligning with client interests and the legal team's strategy.
- Clearly communicate legal advice to clients, oversee forms and evidence, and provide constructive feedback to enhance work quality.
- Collaborate with in-office attorneys and external colleagues, ensuring organized case notes and updates are maintained for team and client understanding.
- Manage an independent caseload, support lead attorneys, and actively engage in team collaboration and training efforts.
- Participate in community outreach, networking, and social media to amplify the office mission and advocate for immigrants' rights.
- Develop and enhance office systems, analyze statistical data for service improvement, and participate in marketing and networking activities to support the office's goals.
Qualifications:
- The ideal candidate for the Part-Time Immigration Associate Attorney position in Berkeley, CA should have a minimum of 4+ years of experience in immigration law, with consideration given to candidates with 4+ years of combined experience in immigration and other legal areas.
- Fluency in both written and spoken Spanish is a mandatory requirement for this role.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills are essential for effective client interaction.
- A deep understanding of immigration law is crucial, along with the ability to assist clients in presenting their unique experiences within legal frameworks.
- Empathy, warmth, and a strong desire to develop as an immigration attorney are key qualities sought.

Compensation: $67,500 - $97,500 DOE
