**Job Description:**
- Provide care for patients who require close monitoring and frequent assessment but are not unstable enough to require ICU care.
- Monitor critical vital signs and detect any changes, enabling intervention in life-threatening or emergency situations.
- Care for patients transitioning from the ICU as part of a progressive care unit.
- Demonstrate competencies in basic and advanced life support.
- Use dysrhythmia monitoring techniques, interpretation, and treatment.
- Calculate medication dosages, monitor patient reactions, and administer continuous medication infusions.
- Monitor patients using standardized procedures pre-, intra-, and post-procedures such as TEE, cardiac catheterization with PCI, cardioversion, bronchoscopy, EGD, PEG placement, and chest tube insertion.
- Recognize symptoms and signs of cardiopulmonary emergencies and initiate standard interventions to stabilize patients.
- Set up and troubleshoot hemodynamic monitoring, recognizing signs of patient instability.
- Interpret ABGs and communicate findings effectively.
- Assess ventilated patients to ensure prescribed treatments are being delivered and properly responded to.
- Manage patients requiring non-invasive oxygen delivery systems.
- Understand and assess long-term mechanical ventilation and weaning processes.
- Manage and assess patients needing renal therapeutic interventions such as hemodialysis.
- Recognize indications for and complications of enteral and parenteral nutrition.
- Evaluate family needs for involvement in care to aid in patient transition from hospital to home.
- Exhibit characteristics such as advocacy, clinical judgment, caring practices, systems thinking, response to diversity, collaboration, and clinical inquiry.
- Serve as an educator to patients and families.
