The Job
We’re looking for an energetic and passionate Technical Program Manager who will play a critical role in the design, engineering, construction, and startup of Ambercycle’s first-of-a-kind commercial plant. You will work in collaboration with Ambercycle’s engineering teams to oversee various phases of engineering, construction, and design for the facility. You will also lead the PMO's cross-functional programs, new initiatives across process development, and new product introduction.
Responsibilities
- Lead and operationalize cross-functional programs, spanning all engineering organizations, with a focus on process design, capital projects, and technology development.
- Create, maintain, communicate, and present schedules for engineering projects to the company management.
- Manage internal and external project interfaces to drive efficient decision-making and achieve successful project completion.
- Execute technically challenging programs and projects requiring engineering knowledge.
- Work with AC and external teams to realize commercial plants within budget and on schedule.
- Develop CAPEX and OPEX models to aid in decision making.
- Collaborate with leadership to create tools for the tracking and monitoring of project metrics.
- Define and drive tasks to be performed by the cross-functional team. Prioritize team project work based on schedule, risk, resources, and payback. Track status of projects and action items against the schedule.
- Develop, implement, and refine project management procedures, frameworks, and metrics to achieve well-defined success criteria.
- Identify creative ways to overcome obstacles and meet the schedule despite setbacks.
- Define, report, and maintain program health, success metrics, and ongoing progress.
- Standardize documentation and enhance project communication processes to foster consistency.
- Create canonical documentation (including risk and decision registers, management of change documentation, etc.) to ensure alignment across teams.
- Travel to company locations and facilities for meetings, training, special projects and information gathering (domestic and international).
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil or Materials Engineering (required).
- 5+ years of program management experience within engineering environments (required).
- 6+ years of process engineering or process design experience (preferred); experience in a start-up environment (preferred).
Preferred Qualifications
- Proven track record in managing large capital projects and collaborating with diverse stakeholders, including engineering contractors.
- Advanced problem-solving with clear communication; ability to comprehend complex problems and break them down into manageable, clearly understood workstreams.
- Proficiency in data-driven decision-making and with project management tools.
- Demonstrated experience creating, maintaining, and communicating schedules.
- Experience with techno-economic analysis, trade-off studies, financial evaluation, process economics, and OpEx/CapEx modeling.
- Demonstrated experience in the management of engineering projects for mass-produced products.
- Ability to work cross-functionally, manage teams, and effectively hold others accountable.
- Proven ability to operate under pressure while managing multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Track record of linking research and development activities with successful real-world implementation.
- Knowledge of chemistry, polymers, technology and manufacturing.
- Ability to effectively operate and deliver results in a fast-paced, open environment.
- Ability to travel up to 40% percent, domestic and international travel.
Compensation: $120,000 - $200,000 a year. Actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge, skills, education, and experience.
