The Head of Procurement is responsible for developing and implementing procurement strategies that align with the organization’s goals. This role involves overseeing the procurement process, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements while optimizing costs and improving service delivery. The key objective of procurement remains to identify opportunities for cost and cash optimization. Purchasing is also responsible for upholding our organization purchasing compliance standards & to maximize interests of the company in any commercial commitments taken with suppliers. The mission of the general procurement organization covers at worldwide level all purchases carving out of subcontracted services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create and execute procurement strategies that support the organization’s objectives and enhance operational efficiency.
- Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers; negotiate contracts and agreements to ensure best value and quality.
- Lead and mentor the procurement team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
- Oversee the procurement budget, monitor spending, and implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality.
- Assess and mitigate risks associated with supplier relationships and procurement processes.
- Ensure adherence to relevant laws, regulations, and organizational policies in all procurement activities.
- Stay informed on market trends, industry standards, and economic factors that could impact procurement strategies.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders, including finance, operations, and project management, to align procurement activities with organizational needs.
- Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate the effectiveness of procurement processes and supplier performance.
- Steer overall performance of procurement organization at regional and country level
- Manage its team both in terms of performance management and people development
- Validate the decision for the selection and use of suppliers, for the identification of key suppliers at regional and local level
- Contributes actively to build and follow-up of all Key performance indicators reported by procurement organization
- Work with Finance organization to steer the P2P process and tools in order to fully comply with the defined P2P policy
- Disseminate culture and good procurement practices within our organization
- Coordinate delivery of global CSR initiatives in the region and implementation of sustainable procurement standards
Essential skills and education to have:
- Equivalent of a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Finance, Economics, or Supply Chain
- 15+ years of related Procurement experience with 5 years of experience in a leadership role
- Knowledge of high-value negotiation and sourcing processes and methodologies. Must have strong financial acumen and fundamental knowledge of accounting and financial statements.
- Organizational skills and the ability to prioritize in demanding environments with tight deadlines. Professional communication skills, both verbal and written, and able to communicate and relate to all levels of the organization
