Artha Global is seeking to hire a Director to lead its DPI Academy under its Centre for Technology & Innovation (CTI).

Job Description: Director, Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) Academy

Artha Global is a policy organisation that supports governments in the developing world to design, implement and institutionalise policy frameworks that promote prosperity and resilience. We provide actionable research, support policy implementation and work to institutionalise change.

The DPI Academy aims to build capacity and catalyse communities of practice in government and other relevant stakeholders, to conceptualise and implement safe and inclusive DPI that enables effective public service delivery.

The position is full-time, in-person and based in Mumbai.

Position Summary

Artha Global is looking for a proactive and result-oriented leader for the initiative. The candidate will engage with important stakeholders within and outside the organisation and will have complete responsibility for the execution of the project. He/She must have a passion for impact at scale, strong critical thinking skills, and comfort working with a high degree of autonomy in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment.

Detailed Job Description

  • Strategy and execution: Engage closely with the non-executive Chairman to effectively design and execute on the overall vision and strategy of the program. The Director will have complete ownership and responsibility towards the Academy’s performance.
  • Stakeholder Relationships: Cultivate high-quality relationships and deepen existing networks within and beyond government.
  • Build internal & external teams: Work towards identifying key members for the team, partners for collaboration, trainers, champions in the community, etc.
  • Establish the Academy: Build the brand of the DPI Academy from scratch and establish it as a credible institution.
  • Fundraising & long-term institutionalisation: Lead the effort with the larger organisation to secure funding for the Academy beyond the current two years.
  • Donor management: Lead interactions and all communications with the donor.

Desired Candidate Profile

Must Have

  • 15+ years of high-quality experience in leadership/entrepreneurial roles with a passion for improving policy in India.
  • Prior experience of working closely with government.
  • Strong demonstrated ability to lead a team.
  • Ability to multi-task and set priorities in an efficient and self-managed manner.
  • Mission-focused attitude and used to working on tight schedules.
  • Extensive familiarity with the technology landscape and digital ecosystems.
  • Readiness to travel across India and stay for short durations outside Mumbai.

Good to Have

  • Experience with capacity-building work within government.
  • Experience of managing donor-funded projects, including budget management and monitoring and evaluation.
  • Fundraising experience, including writing applications for grants and competitive bids, and cultivating relationships.
  • Deep knowledge of technology landscape relating to digital ecosystem.
