We are seeking a Compliance and Risk Specialist for our operations in Central and Northern California. Home Office must be in San Francisco, East Bay, Sacramento, or North of these areas. This is a remote position but travel within territory as required. In this role, you will operationalize safety and compliance for our operations. The Compliance and Risk Specialist personally supports internal staff, suppliers/contractors, and client personnel to perform work in compliance with applicable rules, laws, regulations, policies, and established best practices. This is a key position within the team and will deliver programs, procedures, processes, auditing, consultation, and reporting ensuring safe operational excellence.
Primary Responsibilities
- Primary point of contact for creating, planning, and implementation of processes, policies and procedures, and reporting for assigned area.
- Maintains all required documentation and records.
- Ensures training is identified, assigned, tracked, and reported.
- Conducts meetings, audits, and inspections to ensure safety, compliance, evaluate performance, identify corrective action, and implement follow-up assessments.
- Performs internal annual JCAP audit program, ensuring minimum compliance targets are met.
- Provides support and guidance to staff, partners, and clients ensuring awareness and conformance with policy, procedures, processes, guidelines, and regulations.
- Delivers incident management, reporting, and record-keeping.
- Collaborates with internal and external team members to ensure all work is performed in accordance with approved permitting, internal policies and procedures, contract documents, and good engineering practices.
- Coordinates and monitors their and others' work schedules to ensure efficient work delivery.
- Participates in scheduled and ad-hoc on-site support and auditing.
- Makes specific recommendations for improvement opportunities.
- Maintains account ISN certification at “A” rating.
- Supports supplier certification, training, and rating.
- Partners with internal and external resources to develop risk analysis, trending, and performance benchmarking.
- Participates (and presents) at Client Safety forums.
- Works closely and collaboratively with Compliance and Risk Manager counterpart who oversees the Southern Territory, ensuring alignment.
Job Requirements
- Minimum 5-7 years verifiable experience stewarding compliance at multi-sites encompassing multiple diverse teams. Industrial environment a plus.
- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to communicate effectively and cooperatively in both oral and written reports.
- Broad-based knowledge of Environmental, Safety, and Occupational Health regulations.
- Proven record of success with project management skills.
- Analytical and creative problem-solving skills, and solutioning flexibility.
- Strong organization skills and collaborative management style.
- Strong proficiency in MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- 40% to 60% travel, some overnight, is expected.

Estimated total compensation for this position: 85,000.00 – 113,000.00 USD per year
