General Description: 
The Personnel Security Specialist II plays a critical role in the management and operations of the Personnel Security Program. This position involves processing security forms, managing applicant credentials, and safeguarding sensitive information, while ensuring compliance with all security regulations and protocols. 

Major Duties: 

  • Security Intake Processing: Receive, review, analyze, and process personnel security forms, ensuring that all submissions are complete and accurate. 

  • Portal Monitoring: Monitor theAOC centralized portal system daily to track the status of applicant requests for credentials, background investigations, and federal drug testing. 

  • Scheduling: Coordinate and schedule pre-employment drug tests for applicants, ensuring timely and compliant processing. 

  • Data Entry: Accurately perform data entry duties related to the personnel security processes, maintaining comprehensive and organized records. 

  • Administrative Management: Manage the administrative aspects of congressional credential processing, ensuring smooth and efficient operations. 

  • Follow-up and Correspondence: Process requests for additional information on security packages, follow up on correspondence, and communicate effectively with relevant stakeholders. 

  • Inquiry Handling: Answer general security processing inquiries and escalate complex inquiries to the appropriate Personnel Security Specialist as needed. 

  • Technical Assistance: Provide technical assistance to applicants completing their security forms, ensuring they meet all requirements. 

  • Documentation: Prepare memoranda, reports, and other reference documents to support the security processes. 

  • Advisory Role: Notify the Personnel Security Specialist when a candidate fails to provide the requested information or when additional follow-up is necessary. 

  • Research and Case Summary Preparation: Conduct research, gather information, and compile relevant personnel security data into comprehensive case summaries. 

  • Information Safeguarding: Ensure the proper safeguarding of sensitive information, including Privacy Act Protected Information, Personally Identifiable Information (PII), and Classified National Security Information. 

  • Additional Duties: Assist with other personnel security duties and special projects as required, contributing to the overall success of the security program. 

Professional Qualifications/Skills: 

  • Security Clearance: Must possess and maintain a current Top Secret personnel security clearance. 

  • Experience: Minimum of four (4), preferably six (6), years of experience in personnel security, demonstrating expertise in handling sensitive information and managing security processes. 

  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a strong attention to detail and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization. 

  • Technical Proficiency: Ability to discuss technical issues with non-technical, executive-level government officials, ensuring clarity and understanding. 

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday 7:00am to 3:30pm. This position may require flexibility to manage tasks as needed.
