Position Overview:
• The Farm Manager will be responsible for the management and supervision, with hands-on involvement, of all farming operations as they relate to the tractor, irrigation, and almond departments, including land prep, planting, irrigation scheduling and maintenance, fertilization, pesticide applications, and harvest activities.
• Other responsibilities as assigned by management/leadership. Accountabilities:
• Effective and efficient scheduling and management of farm team, including FLC’s, with proper prioritization according to seasonality, crop health, rotational considerations, organic vs. conventional land, etc.
• Ensure compliance with labor and pesticide use laws, food safety, occupational safety, and all company policies.
• Assist with development of crop budgets and oversee execution of cultural/rotational plans with respect to budgets and profitability expectations.
• Experience with row crop and almond management.
• Effective and efficient time management.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage a team in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment, with varying levels of ambiguity.
• Ability to prioritize well and in a self-directed manner.
• Competitive team player with a “can do” mindset.
• GPS systems experience.
• Parts inventory and/or procurement experience.
• Geographic Information Systems experience is a plus.
Requirements:
• Bilingual (English and Spanish) required.
• Bachelor’s Degree in closely related field required.
• PCA/QAL License or ability to obtain preferred.
• 3-5 years of experience with progressively higher levels of management accountability required.
• Some overtime, including weekends and especially during peak seasonal periods may be required.
• Some after-hours phone calls and email activity.
