Eliot is seeking an experienced housing specialist with outstanding counseling skills, experience with homeless population and entitlements. This person will be developing working relationships with local landlords, housing authorities, housing advocates and DMH in order to assist Persons in finding housing.
Responsibilities:
- Develop sound and working relationships with local landlords, housing authorities, housing advocates and DMH in order to assist Persons in finding housing.
- Provide education to staff throughout the agency on housing subsidies, housing entitlements, and other housing opportunities for Persons.
- Develop and track all housing subsidies provided to Eliot Persons. This includes all public subsidies and contract rental assistance.
- Assist ACCS teams in working with Persons to obtain federal and state subsidies for permanent and safe housing.
- Work with DMH licensors on developing properties for DMH subsidies and ensure that these properties meet Eliot Person's needs.
- Assist in housing searches by meeting with staff and Persons to review benefits, look through newspapers, complete housing applications, use the internet and assess Person's needs for subsidies.
- Ensure that all services provided are culturally and linguistically appropriate. This may include accessing and utilizing resources to meet the needs of persons.
