Job Summary:

The Director of Digital Learning will support the Rothwell Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence (RCTLE) by aligning with the University’s strategic goal of academic excellence. This role involves serving as a liaison for college leadership, managing a team to enhance faculty effectiveness, and organizing high-quality professional development programs like iTeachER and Online Teaching Certification. The Director will focus on project management, resource allocation, and ongoing evaluation to ensure relevance and effectiveness, while also prioritizing staff development and succession planning. Proficiency in online education tools such as Canvas, Teams, and Zoom is essential, as is collaboration with the Executive Director to drive innovation and support the University’s educational goals.

Please note: This position is in-person located in Daytona Beach, FL. This position is not remote or hybrid.

Key job functions include:

Technical Planning

  • Analyze data to inform meaningful RCTLE programming.
  • Organize and evaluate resource management for effective implementation.
  • Create project management systems to meet timelines for new offerings.
  • Develop systems for regular review and analysis of existing programs.
  • Research tools and methods for efficiency and innovation.
  • Benchmark technology trends in professional development.
  • Utilize LMS and other tools to model effective instruction.
  • Maintain communication strategies to engage a geographically dispersed teaching population.

Supervision and Leadership

  • Supervise and mentor RCTLE staff, including conducting performance evaluations.
  • Meet quarterly with staff to discuss performance and objectives.
  • Oversee staff personal leave and collaborate with other departments.
  • Work with RCTLE leadership to develop and communicate offerings.
  • Analyze operations for efficiency improvements and maintain departmental resources.
  • Partner with other ERAU units to implement innovative practices.
  • Foster a positive team culture.

Reporting/Research

  • Manage monthly and annual reporting on departmental trends and activities.
  • Evaluate and recommend pedagogical resources and instructional technology to enhance teaching for Worldwide faculty.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in education, educational leadership, educational administration, instructional technology, instructional design, or another related field.
  • 3-5 years of professional experience.

Required skills, knowledge, abilities:

  • At least three years of teaching experience.
  • Excellent skills in performing administrative tasks and supervising personnel when needed.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent research skills in the areas of evidence-based teaching practices.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with faculty, RCTLE staff, IT staff, and Library staff.
  • Must be a self-starter and have the ability to work without close supervision.
