Learn more:What You'll DoThis is a job that performs advanced to highly advanced accounting work. Work involves the oversight and/or preparation of financial analyses and reports, reconciliations, accounting system entries, and Annual Financial Report (AFR) schedules, exhibits, and notes.Oversees the allocation of state and federal funds to agency operating programs and develops suitable plans for validating and matching the various federal funds used in financing agency operations.Assists in the planning, development, and submission of the agency's annual financial report in accordance with Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) and Office of the Comptroller of Public Accounts requirements.Audits general journal entriesPrepares and reviews general ledger accounting entries and reconciliation of financial transactions.Prepares PIFA reports for the non-profits.Serves as the Public Funds Investment Officer for the non-profits.Serves as back-up for other General Ledger and federal grants accounting staff.Reviews and writes procedures as necessary.Assists with preparation of the Legislative Appropriations Request (LAR) and Operating Budget, Assists with preparation of the annual non-financial reports.Oversees and/or prepares the monthly reconciliation of agency revenues and expenditures, cash, and accounts.How You'll QualifyAccountant VIGraduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in accounting, finance, business administration, management, or related field; andFour (4) years of progressively responsible accounting experience in a related field.Accountant VIIGraduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in accounting, finance, business administration, management, or related field; andFive (5) years of progressively responsible accounting experience in a related field.Note: Experience and education may be substituted for one another on a year-for-year basis.Certification as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) will substitute for two (2) years of experience.You're a Great Fit withCertified Public Accountant.Experience in the oversight of federal funds.Experience using the Centralized Accounting and Payroll/Personnel System (CAPPS) financials and using State of Texas Uniform Statewide Accounting System (USAS).Other Things to Know and When You Should ApplyIt's a great job for a professional who is pursuing a career in government accounting.
