DIRECTOR OF FINANCE
Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Director of Finance to join our leadership team. The Director of Finance will report to the executive leadership and be responsible for overseeing all financial operations, including financial performance, strategic planning, and business growth initiatives. This role involves leading financial strategy development, regulatory compliance, transaction oversight/support, and managing the ongoing financial responsibilities of our portfolio. The ideal candidate is a proactive leader with deep experience in Affordable Housing finance, including the LIHTC and Section 8 programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the financial management strategy for both the firm and our portfolio, ensuring the preparation of accurate financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and compliance with financial regulations and covenants.
- Monitor portfolio financials by collaborating with the asset management team to assess property-level budgets and performance, including occupancy rates, rent collections, and operating expenses, offering insights to improve financial outcomes.
- Support transactions by analyzing deal structures, negotiating terms, managing due diligence, and coordinating with legal and operational teams to ensure successful execution.
- Oversee financial aspects of development and construction projects by managing project budgeting, bookkeeping and construction draw schedules.
- Manage annual audits and compliance requirements, working with external auditors and asset management to ensure timely and accurate reporting to government agencies and stakeholders, including LIHTC investors and lenders.
- Implement best practices and internal controls to ensure sound financial management and risk oversight across the organization.
- Provide accounting and tax support to the executive team, assisting with strategic financial decisions.
Requirements
- 7-10 years of experience in real estate accounting experience, with a focus on Affordable Housing multifamily properties. Past experience with LIHTC and Section 8 is required.
- Strong financial modeling and quantitative analysis skills.
- Experience managing rehabilitation projects and capital expenditures.
- Job is located in New York, NY and can be remote for the right candidate.
- Travel up to 5% of the workweek.
Salary
Competitive salary ranging from $175,000 – $225,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
