Your role at Clorox:

As a Packaging Senior Scientist in Research & Development for Kingsford Charcoal, you will be a part of a team responsible for the technical development of products across the entire Kingsford portfolio. You will develop new packaging from concept to launch, using technical leadership to deliver solutions that delight consumers. You will work closely with Product and Process scientists as well as Marketing, Sales, Supply Chain, and Regulatory.

From the development of prototypes for cost savings initiatives to delivering new and improved packaging for commercialization, you will play a significant role in driving innovation for Clorox and Kingsford. Additionally, you will own the sustainability roadmap for packaging, driving executional progress against our goals and will be responsible for placing strategic technical bets/recommendations in the areas of new materials, suppliers, and processes.

Preferred location is Pleasanton, CA, but employees located in any other Clorox location such as Chicago Metropolitan Area, IL or Durham, NC, will also be considered for this position. In addition, relocation assistance will be offered to employees who choose to relocate.

In this role, you will:

  1. Refine and implement multi-year sustainability plan that meets Kingsford and Clorox goals
  2. Package development lead for projects to ensure technical rigor and deliver against project deliverables
  3. Design and execute technical testing to converge on and validate package design and performance, including developing new test methods with support when necessary
  4. Use established Clorox processes to deliver projects and identifies potential improvements
  5. Create consumer and customer facing specifications and processing standards
  6. Lead risk assessment and mitigation planning
  7. Apply fundamental technical and packaging knowledge
  8. Collaborate with internal/external experts

What we look for:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Packaging, Materials Science, or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent number of years of relevant industry experience
  2. Minimum 5 years of experience leading the execution of packaging solutions to market, including development from idea to launch on at least several projects
  3. Demonstrated project planning skills
  4. Ability to work independently and implement multiple projects in a timely manner
  5. Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills to work in a collaborative team environment, both internal and external to Clorox
