Job Title: FIRST Lego League Coach (Challenge)

Requirements:
Reports to the building principal and STEM Coach. Attends/supervises/organizes FIRST Lego League (FLL) practices, scrimmages, and competitions; Recruits and selects students for participation in FLL following district guidelines; Registers team on FIRST website and directs student/parent registration; Applies for FLL grants; Manages team budget in cooperation with building secretary and district STEM Coach; Directs the purchase of team supplies; Attends school and district events to promote FLL; Communicates with team members, parents, and others regarding FLL news/information; Exhibits gracious professionalism.

Friendly competition is at the heart of Challenge, as teams of students ages 9-16 (Grades 4-8) engage in research, problem-solving, coding, and engineering - building and programming a LEGO robot that navigates the missions of a robot game. Each Challenge season has three parts: the Robot Game, the Innovation Project, and the FIRST Core Values. Recruit up to 10 interested team members ages 9 to 16*. Team members must not exceed the maximum age on January 1 of the year the Challenge is released.
Must be available for practice outside of regular school hours, including scheduled weekend scrimmages and tournaments. The regular season for FLL begins in late August with the release of the annual challenge and continues through the qualifier tournament season in December. Teams that advance to the state competition will continue to meet through mid-January. Teams practice at least 2 hrs, once per week, during the regular season.
Multiple elementary schools are in need of a coach.
