Job Summary:

At SBM Life Science, we are seeking a passionate consumer marketer that wants to own their own line of business. The Senior Brand Manager, Bioadvanced will take ownership of the total herbicide business through performance marketing, renovation and innovation. This individual will also be responsible for developing the go-to-market consumer promotions strategy and execution for the total Bioadvanced brand, enabling all three segments to reach new users.

The Senior Brand Manager will work cross-functionally to enable expansion of the herbicide business, leading with consumer insights, R&D and sales engagement that will ignite the core business and build a future with a new generation of DIY shoppers. To bring the portfolio to life, this individual will work with the heads of marketing and sales, Director of Communications, Finance and Channel Directors to define, refine and execute a consumer promotion plan to acquire new users, grow the category and solidify the brand’s place with consumers and customers.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  1. Define, develop, and implement the marketing plan providing a three-year plan and strategic direction to set marketing and innovation strategies to address the short-, mid-, and long-term opportunities in the DIY Lawn and Garden industry.
  2. Analyze product and market performance of the herbicide segment in priority channels with the ability to build business cases for expansion into new channels.
  3. Work with the Communications and Sales teams to define, develop, and implement advertising and promotional programs as part of the overall marketing plan.
  4. Research and leverage consumer insights to understand motivations, pain points and benefits that drive relevance and modernity to the prescribed product lines.
  5. Lead and engage with cross-functional teams to develop and commercialize breakthrough, innovative products that feature clear unique selling propositions.
  6. Develop deep customer understanding and insights on business, including customer visits, store, and consumer interaction that will drive a meaningful ‘feel’ of what’s right for the consumer target(s) in your portfolio of products.
  7. Manage the portfolio by means of Portfolio Analysis and work out recommendations on Life Cycle Management (LCM), Portfolio Consolidation/Rationalization/Optimization to enhance overall profitability and growth opportunities.
  8. Work closely with Commercial Operations, Regional Sales, and National Account Teams to establish and maintain consistency between Portfolio & Brand Strategies, Marketing Plans and Commercial and Channel Strategies and support the sales activities.
  9. Manage expenses and budgets assigned to this position and support the annual budgeting processes as well as other global or local projects.
  10. Prepare to lead Associate Brand Manager(s) on an as-needed basis.
  11. All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, Communications, or related field.
  2. MBA or equivalent experience highly preferred.

Work Experience:

  1. 5-7 years of marketing and product experience.
  2. Demonstrated strategy development and plan execution.
  3. Deep analytical experience in launching successful new products, and management of portfolio through LCM, portfolio analyses and rationalization/optimization.
  4. Consumer packaged goods industry experience.
  5. Line management experience.
