The TRIO Educational Advisor demonstrates Family Legacy Foundation’s core values while assisting adults in enrolling in post-secondary programs. The Advisor reports to the Director and is responsible for ensuring that the objectives of the Educational Opportunity Center (EOC) are meet.
Funded by the U.S. Department of Education, Family Legacy’s EOC assists adults (19 years and older) who are interested in enrolling in programs of post-secondary education. Responsibilities include:
• Recruit prospective participants
o Advisors are responsible for developing and implementing their own recruitment strategies
• Provide advising to adults regarding admissions, financial aid, career planning, etc. that results in enrollment.
o Assist participants in completing processes necessary for admissions and financial aid (e.g. completing applications including the Free Application for Federal Student Aid).
• Track participants’ progress toward enrollment.
• Enter and maintain data in database.
• Represent Family Legacy Foundation at various meetings, conferences, etc.
Minimum Qualifications
o Bachelor’s Degree in a Social Science or other related field.
o Two years’ experience working with economically disadvantaged populations.
o Experience working with/advising adults personally/academically.
o Knowledge of financial aid policies and processes.
o Knowledge of admissions policies and processes.
