We have a Substation Designer - Physical position available in Winslow, ME. The person will prepare clear, complete, and accurate substation physical drawings from rough or detailed sketches, notes, or pre-made drafting blocks for engineering.
Major Responsibilities:
  • Follow general and specific industry guidelines as described in CAD procedure manual.
  • Read, learn, and apply general and client-specific CAD Standards to all drawings.
  • Utilize knowledge of Autodesk and other drafting packages and software to complete drawings.
  • Draft finished designs from engineer's sketches or from other engineering documentation.
  • Visually compare the design of component, or other equipment with datasheet of component for accurate drafting of component.
  • Prepare drawing sets for quality assurance review following company procedures.
  • Review questions or concerns with engineer or project manager and redline drawing set accordingly.
Minimum Requirements:
A 2-year degree in Computer Aided Drafting/ Design or equivalent degree is preferred.
  • 0-5 years CAD substation physical design experience.
  • Efficient with AutoCAD and Microsoft suite (Access, Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Knowledge of AutoLisp preferred.
  • Must be attentive to detail with drawings and specifications for a high level of accuracy.
Additional skill requirements:
Comfortable communicating with technical people.
  • Eagerness to learn new technology and implement improvements.
  • Customer service attitude and enjoys helping people.
  • Ability to work with little supervision and prioritize work responsibilities.

Physical Demands of Position Seeing, color perception, hearing, listening, clear speech, dexterity in hands. Ability to perform the minimum requirements and meet deadlines as required.
Working Conditions Hybrid mix of standard office environment and work-from-home: frequent use of computer, facsimiles, copy machines, and other office equipment. The ability to travel for client/project needs is strongly preferred.
