Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Pacific Dams Practice Leader in our West Region Water Business Line. This senior level position will ideally be based in Northern California, but we are open to other locations in California, Oregon, or Washington for the right candidate.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Reporting to the Dams and Hydropower Division Manager of the U.S. West Region Water Business Line, serve as the Practice Leader of Dams and Hydropower in Northern California, Oregon, and Washington, in coordination with our National/Global Dams Practice Leaders, Region Business Line Leader, Market Sector Leads, Division Managers, and Growth Leads.
  • The primary responsibility involves leading client-facing activities including driving business with existing clients, generating new business, and leading delivery of major projects and programs.
  • The candidate is expected to drive growth of the dams practice in AECOM’s US West Region, with focus on Northern California and the Pacific Northwest, and provide technical engagement and leadership with clients and the industry during pursuit of dams and hydropower opportunities.
  • Provide technical leadership on projects and support strategy and sale of AECOM’s services to the designated market sector.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities and trends in the business line, market sector and in adjacent market sectors.
  • Participate in developing business strategy for dams and hydropower in the U.S. West Region.
  • Serve as program, project manager, or technical lead when needed, directing and executing strategic work related to major dams and hydropower projects and programs.
  • Build strong relationships and interact regularly with clients, teaming partners, industry groups and stakeholders linked to the market sector.
  • Develop major pursuits and provide oversight of capture plans that conform to the business development strategy and technical capabilities.
  • Draw in technical expertise from across the organization to support pursuits.
  • Regularly interact with clients to pursue satisfaction with AECOM services and interact with project delivery personnel to proactively identify and address client feedback on team performance.
  • Reinforce collaboration and team building, emphasize client focus, demonstrate commitment to excellence and innovation, and motivate others to promote positive morale and engagement.
  • Promote AECOM values of sustainability, corporate social responsibility, and ethics & compliance in client involvement and project delivery.
  • Monitor and manage business development expenditures and priorities in the Northern California and the Pacific Northwest, based on market trends.
  • Coordinate with AECOM’s Technical Practice Leads and Division Managers to align the team’s skills with market trends and to drive strategic technical leadership hires.
  • Continuously build a strong professional network through personal contacts, conference planning and strategy development.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements :

  • Bachelor's Degree + 10 years of experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education, including a minimum of 2 years leadership experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's (MS) or Doctorate (PhD) in Engineering. Civil, Structural or Geotechnical preferred.
  • Extensive and proven knowledge of dams and hydropower markets, trends, and clients.
  • 20+ years dams and hydropower industry technical and leadership experience.
  • 5 years of experience leading projects, client accounts, or business development initiatives.
  • Strong reputation in the industry through participation in USSD, ASDSO, or related industry organizations.
  • Ability to broad scan other water related end markets and to assist in strategy development.
  • Agile response to fast paced, complex work environment and organizational change.
  • Proven ability to deliver projects and foster collaboration across geographies, disciplines, and business lines.
