Software Engineer (Energy) Overview


The Senior Software Engineer role is integral to the evolution of next-generation energy solutions, particularly in the realm of sensor technology. This role emphasizes the development of software systems that harness, analyze, and interpret data from a myriad of sensors deployed in energy installations. Leveraging extensive technical knowledge, the Senior Software Engineer will spearhead the design and optimization of these platforms, ensuring robustness, real-time performance, and stringent security. By working closely with cross-functional teams, this individual will also champion the integration of sensors with advanced software capabilities. As a key contributor, they will not only mentor other engineers but will continuously explore emerging trends in the energy and sensor domains, propelling our mission to redefine industrial energy landscapes.


Responsibilities

  1. Software Development for Sensor Integration: Design and implement software for integration and analysis of a range of sensor systems
  2. Performance Optimization: Ensure software robustness, real-time processing, and scalability
  3. Security: Implement stringent security protocols to protect data integrity
  4. Collaborate: Work with cross-functional teams of hardware engineers, systems engineers, data scientists, and other technical personnel to ensure seamless integration of sensor with advanced software functionalities
  5. Mentorship: Guide and mentor junior team members in software best practices
  6. Research: Stay updated on energy and sensor domain trends; evaluate potential new tech integrations
  7. Testing: Write and conduct system tests to ensure functionality, security, and performance
  8. Documentation: Maintain clear technical documentation including architecture decisions, user instructions, and technical specifications

Qualifications

  1. Minimum of 5+ years of experience in professional software development
  2. Bachelor’s or higher Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related degree
  3. Experience with sensor system integration, ideally in an energy industry setting
  4. Experience with Python and C++
  5. Experience with Software Architecture, System and Software requirements development, and Agile methodologies
  6. Preference for on-site work (Hermosa Beach, CA.)

$185k-$220k /yr

The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations.
