Linguamatics is a leading provider of text mining solutions with a current emphasis on high value healthcare, biomedical and life science applications. Thanks to our world-class team, and innovative use of natural language processing (NLP) based technology, our software is acknowledged as a leading solution for complex medical and scientific data and has been adopted by many of the world’s leading healthcare and pharmaceutical organizations. We are now looking for a clinical NLP specialist to be located initially in the Bay Area to be embedded in one of the country’s leading healthcare organizations (following a training period at our offices in Westborough, MA).

Key tasks and responsibilities:

  1. Work on-site with our customer to develop NLP-based solutions that integrate with EHR data and support business and research workflows.
  2. Be an evangelist for Linguamatics’ healthcare solutions, proactively seeking to solve problems of value to the customer.
  3. Feed customer requirements back to the product development team and help test new software releases.
  4. Support the customer and ensure their success in using the product to gain maximum ROI.
  5. Develop compelling case studies showing how the software can be used to solve real-world problems in healthcare. There will also be opportunities to author papers for submission to scientific journals.
  6. Travel nationally and sometimes internationally to customer sites to present the Linguamatics solutions and provide training where appropriate.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have the following skills, experience and qualifications:

  1. Deep knowledge of NLP text mining especially information extraction from clinical data.
  2. Deep knowledge of healthcare informatics and/or information management.
  3. Experience working with domain ontologies such as ICD9 & 10, MeSH, MedRA, RxNorm, SNOMED CT.
  4. Familiarity with healthcare and life science information (e.g. EHRs and ClinicalTrials.gov).
  5. Experience of working with customers, ideally in a pre- or post-sales support role.
  6. Good project management skills and experience.
  7. Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  8. A pro-active attitude and ability to work in a team.
  9. Medical, life science, medical informatics, computational biology or similar degree, preferably to postgraduate level.
