JOB TITLE: Director Data Science

LOCATION: 11000 Optum Circle, Eden Prairie, MN 55344 (Telecommuting available from anywhere in the U.S.)

DUTIES:

1. Develop, implement, and operate Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning models.
2. Mentor, guide, and educate engineers on fundamentals of data science, and mentor data scientists.
3. Work directly with business to translate business need into technical requirements for AI/ML application.
4. Utilize Optum's proprietary Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI/ML) solutions and tools to build models and applications that will help on cost savings, better use of data and information, automation of manual tasks, and uncovering hidden patterns on data.
5. Evaluate and assess team members' qualifications and recommend training programs accordingly.
6. Collaborate with the larger AI/ML community and governance teams across Optum as part of the Optum-wide initiative to regularize the business' approach to machine learning in production.
7. Modernize the marketing technology and lead acquisition processes.
8. Lead the identification of sales and marketing opportunities using AI/ML models.
9. Track, review and approve the development of the AI/ML model across the company.
10. Serve on the Machine Learning Review Board for UHG, reviewing models for issues with ethical bias and legal risks to ensure the machine learning models are adequate before they are put into production.
11. Travel required.

REQUIREMENTS:

Employer will accept a PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, or a related field and two (2) years of experience in the job offered or data science-related occupation. Position requires two (2) years of experience involving the following:

1. Programming languages including Python and Java.
2. Statistical analysis and computing.
3. Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Data Visualization or Data Wrangling.
4. Data Extraction, Transformation, and Loading (ETL).
5. Azure Machine Learning Studio, AWS Machine Learning or GCP Machine Learning.
6. Git; Github Actions; REST APIs.
7. RDBMS/SQL.
8. NoSQL Databases including Graph and Document.
9. Agile Project Management, including Kanban and Scrum.
10. Mentoring, teaching or training junior team members.
