Description
Reporting to the Manager of Research and Innovation, the Specialist's primary function will be supporting the research driven corporate goals and objectives of the company, and conducting in-depth reviews on ingredients, products, and manufacturers to support new product innovation for the USA market. The Specialist will conceptualize and propose new, innovative products for the company to develop. They will follow potential products through the development phases, including idea identification, scoping, and development. Strong communication skills will be employed through liaising with marketing, project management, regulatory, R&D, supply chain and finance personnel to identify optimal product development pathways and feasibility.

Requirements

  • Conduct extensive literature and market competitor reviews on current and new ingredients/products
  • Review scientific technical material from raw ingredient and finished product suppliers
  • Prepare research-based safety and efficacy documents for regulatory submissions and provide research support in product amendment process
  • Provide support for claim development and FDA/FTC compliance review
  • Monitor and prepare monthly reports of selected journals, industry reports and other databases
  • Initiate internal sampling programs and liaise with external contract research organizations to further Jamieson's research programs
  • Work with buyers to source desired new raw materials
  • Liaise with third party manufacturers as needed for all steps of the new product launch process
  • Plan and execute internal studies to assess potential products and ingredients
  • Propose new formulas for products based on research and marketing objectives; optimize formulation with R&D
  • Lead project taskforce meetings for USA Innovation business unit
  • Survey marketplace to purchase competitor products for competitor review purposes
  • Health & Safety Policies/SOPs including but not limited to the Safety Responsibilities Procedure
  • Will comply with Good Manufacturing Practices in all GMP sensitive areas of Jamieson Laboratories Ltd. facilities
  • Other duties and projects as deemed necessary
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Life Sciences, Nutrition, Biomedical Sciences or related with 3+ years related industry experience OR
  • Masters of Science in Life Sciences, Nutrition, Biomedical Sciences or related with 1+ years related industry experience
  • Experience designing formulas for US compliance (DSHEA, Prop 65 etc.) strongly preferred
  • Research minded with critical thinking skills
  • Working knowledge of MS Office, significant experience with literature search engines
  • Excellent technical writing skills and good grammar and punctuation
  • Exemplary communication, bilingual (English/French) desirable
  • Able to work, learn and think accurately in a fast paced, dynamic, multitasking environment and networking skills

Salary Description
$55,580K - $83,370K DOE
