Position Summary:

· The Staff Auditor assists in the performance of internal audits, normally as a member of the audit team reporting to a Senior Auditor.

· The Staff Auditor also performs audits individually, reporting directly to the Audit Manager.

· The Staff Auditor assists in performance of compliance and fraud investigations, system development projects, and with external audit assistance.

· The Staff Auditor participates in the Public Records Request process performed by Internal Audit.

· This position acts in a confidential capacity to assist or aid the Director, Associate Director, or Manager in the department.


Duties and Responsibilities:

· Executes financial, operational, compliance and IT audit plans within the framework of IIA standards, integrity and ethics. Assists the Audit Manager with planning (risk assessment) and report writing.

· Identifies value added audit findings that improve the efficiency and effectiveness of operations, and help maintain the integrity of financial data.

· Develops and maintains strong working relationships with auditees and is committed to continually improving audit satisfaction.

· Assists Audit Manager in the development and administration of department policies, procedures, tools and audit methodologies. Attends regular training and CPE classes.

· Verifies compliance with various hospital policies & procedures, government regulations and contractual obligations.

· Verifies, interprets and analyses accounts data and ascertains the validity and reliability of financial reports.

· Works with external auditors to help reconcile discrepancies or support the external auditing function.

· Understands established sampling techniques and requirements for expansion of scope.

· Completes assignments within time constraints and deadlines; provides proactive status updates to Manager.

· Demonstrates behaviors of service excellence and CARE values (Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Expertise). Performs all other related job duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications:


Experience

· Generally requires 1 to 3 years of related experience.


Education

· Bachelor's degree in related field is required


Skills:

· Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work accurately while meeting multiple deadlines.

· Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.

· Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with critical thinking and professional composure. Ability to understand and follow instructions.

· Ability to exercise sound and independent judgment.

· Knowledge and skill in use of job appropriate technology and software applications.

Credentials

· Active license or certification is required as needed, based on the job or specialty.

Physical Requirements - Job function is sedentary in nature and requires sitting for extended periods of time. Function may require frequent standing or walking. Must be able to lift or carry objects weighing up to 20 pounds.
