Assistant Coach, Women's Lacrosse

Requirements

The Assistant Coach for Women's Lacrosse recruits, retains, supervises, and coaches NCAA Division I women's lacrosse student-athletes, under the guidelines of Georgetown, the Big East Conference and NCAA, and carries out duties within the stated philosophy of Georgetown athletics and its educational mission. Reporting to the Head WLAX Coach, the Assistant Coach has duties that include but are not limited to:

  1. Follow all institutional, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations to ensure compliance.
  2. With general policy guidance from the Head Coach, make decisions to successfully achieve department goals and objectives, and be accountable for the development of team policies and goals.
  3. Actively participate in practices and competitions, such as game preparation (including developing strategies and game plans), practice planning, skill and video sessions (including working individually with, advising, and critiquing student-athletes to develop and improve their skills), scouting opposing teams and players (including analyzing their strengths and weaknesses), scheduling, weight training, and fitness programs.
  4. Evaluate prospective student-athletes, analyzing and determining their abilities and whether they may succeed athletically and academically at Georgetown.
  5. Recommend or determine which prospective student-athletes the team should focus its time and resources to recruit, contacting and recruiting such prospects.
  6. Perform additional duties such as monitoring of student-athlete academic performance; conducting, advising, and counseling student-athletes regarding performance and conduct; identifying and addressing student-athlete welfare issues; and representing the University in donor/alumni public relations and community programs.

Requirements and Qualifications

  1. Bachelor's degree
  2. 1 to 3 years of experience directly related to duties and responsibilities specified, preferably at college or university or equivalent combination of education and experience; knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations
  3. Knowledge and understanding of all aspects of the game of lacrosse
  4. Knowledge of strength and conditioning programs and routines
  5. Knowledge of NCAA regulations and guidelines governing the recruitment, academic eligibility requirements, and retention of student-athletes
  6. Knowledge of athletics recruitment methods and techniques. Ability to create a database for all prospects
  7. Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments
  8. Strong organizational skills and interpersonal skills that demonstrate an ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
  9. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  10. Ability to foster a cooperative work environment
  11. General knowledge of budget preparation and fiscal management
  12. Possession of a valid driver's license with good driving record and insurability
  13. Proficient computer uses and knowledge of relevant Microsoft applications
  14. Willingness and availability to work weekends and evenings
  15. Preference for current First Aid/CPR certification

Work Mode Designation

This position has been designated as On-Campus . Please note that work mode designations are regularly reviewed in order to meet the evolving needs of the University. Such review may necessitate a change to a position's mode of work designation.

Pay Range:

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:
$66,783.00 - $126,720.23

Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University's business needs and external factors.
