The Capital Area Division (CAD) of Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA) has an outstanding opportunity for a WMD Analyst (Nuclear Enterprise Defense) with experience identifying, monitoring, and assessing foreign threats to the U.S. nuclear enterprise and its information systems, networks, and/or critical infrastructure. This position routinely conducts technical and all-source analyses that characterize foreign actors and threats to effectively warn and protect U.S. nuclear-, strategic, and C4I-related elements. The Intelligence Analyst contributes to Defense Intelligence Enterprise deliverables, including but not limited to foundational assessments, warning reports, technical briefings, and other analytic documents. The position collaborates with the Intelligence Community, Defense Department, national labs, and academia to address nuclear enterprise-related threat issues. The Intelligence Analyst provides guidance to less experienced staff, reviews the work of others, authoritatively contributes to multi-functional analytic teams, and maintains currency in understanding relevant technologies, trends, and threats. The position is expected to understand and articulate official government analytic positions during customer engagements and represent Defense Intelligence Enterprise analytic units as directed.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of experience conducting intelligence cycle functions and/or creating intelligence reports, assessments, or deliverables; OR 7 years of same experience without a degree
- Must be a US Citizen
- Demonstrate current familiarity – experience within the last two years – identifying, assessing, and developing products associated with foreign threats to U.S. nuclear-related information systems, critical infrastructure, personnel, and resources
- Tangible experience with intelligence analysis, including employing multi-INT databases to develop analytic assessments and briefings
- Working familiarity with established Intelligence Community directives, standards, and tradecraft documents.
- Ability to communicate complex analyses at a level comprehensible to diverse military audiences and senior-level government representatives
- Ability to clearly express in writing technical analysis results and program characterizations
- Experience assessing risks to identify potential impacts and vulnerabilities associated with foreign and malign cyber threat actors
- Familiarity characterizing and assessing foreign adversary nuclear and strategic weapons programs, developments, and its supporting infrastructure
- Understanding of foreign military and adversary C4I and CNA capabilities and technologies
- Understanding of global technology control, arms-control, nonproliferation, and threat reduction efforts associated with combating WMD
- Active TS/SCI clearance
Desired Qualifications:
- Military or defense-related experience and working familiarity Nuclear Command, Control, and Communications (NC3) missions and entities
- Understanding of the Defense Intelligence Enterprise, DIA, and Service intelligence production centers
- Experience participating in or leading nuclear security and/or strategic exercises, forums, and working groups
- Experience effectively devising, utilizing, and communicating methodological approaches to complex problem sets
- Familiarity working with USSTRATCOM, DTRA, and S&T analytic centers within the DOD, IC and/or Interagency
