Position Summary—Nurse Practitioner-Women’s Health

The Nurse Practitioner is a member of the interdisciplinary health care team which functions to meet the objectives of the programs. The Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for providing complete clinical care for all patients under the direction of one or more supervising licensed physician(s), including the Medical Director, and by written protocols. The Nurse Practitioner works in conjunction with the Medical Director in implementing and maintaining quality care programs.

Flexible, may require some evening and weekends

Responsibilities

  1. Elicits patient medical and social history, performs a review of systems, initiates lab and radiological tests and studies, provides health teaching and counseling, monitors and manages stabilized chronic conditions; additionally, may perform simple laboratory tests such as wet mounts.
  2. Reviews chart findings and exercises services in accordance with established Management, CPSP, State Office of Family Planning, and other medical standards and guidelines.
  3. With appropriate training, prescribes and dispenses packaged, pre-labeled medications under protocol and refers and follows up on patients in accordance with established protocols and procedures.
  4. Consults with other members of the health care team regarding individual needs of specific patients, provides support for recommended actions and refers patients to appropriate clinic and/or community resources.
  5. Supervises the LVN, Medical Assistant, Community Health Worker, and other staff or personnel providing direct patient care and assumes responsibility for daily clinic management.
  6. Participates in case management meetings and staff meetings.
  7. In concert with other members of the health care team, provides patient and community education classes.
  8. Assists in the provision of in-service training of all clinical, volunteer, and other personnel.
  9. Assists in data collection for evaluation and research purposes.
  10. Completes necessary billing forms.
  11. Participates in our Continuing Quality Improvement (CQI) program and Women’s Health Meetings.
  12. Contributes to program planning, evaluation, report preparation, and development of articles.
  13. Performs other tasks as required or as assigned by the Program Director and Medical Director.
  14. Maintains a positive working relationship with staff.
  15. Other duties as designated by the Medical Director or Executive Director.

  3. Removal of Intrauterine Device (IUD) (with strings showing)
  4. Pre-natal Ultrasound for gestational age

Qualifications - Minimum Requirements

  1. Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  2. Excellent Communication Skills
  3. Excellent Customer Service (Bedside Manners)
  4. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
  5. Ability to work as a team player and work independently
  6. Reliable transportation
  7. Must be able to travel from facility to facility
  8. This position requires 10% travel outside the local area.
