MANAGER – EDUCATION WORKFORCE CENTER (EWC)
TRUMAN COLLEGE

City Colleges of Chicago’s (CCC) Harry S. Truman College serves as the Center of Excellence for degree and certificate programs in the focus area of Education, including early childhood, child development, and grades K-12. Reporting to the Executive Director – Chicago Early Learning Workforce Scholarship, the Manager - Education Workforce Center (EWC) manages the operations and use of space at the EWC site at Truman College, with accountability for developing and implementing plans for the delivery of EWC services and resources that support educational professionals through the educator life cycle of development, discovery, reflection, growth and support.

The Manager-Education Workforce Center (EWC) also works with key staff at the satellite site at Daley College as well as other off-campus sites; works with key stakeholders to ensure grant’s key performance indicators are met; and develops partnerships with organizations that support Early Childhood, Elementary/Secondary, and Higher Education. Performs related duties as required.

Funded by a McCormick Foundation grant and housed at the Truman campus with a satellite at Daley College’s Arturo Velasquez Institute, the Education Workforce Center (EWC) serves as a dedicated center and learning community, supporting the needs of educators across the Chicagoland area. Starting with a focus on the early childhood workforce to help recruit and retain high-quality teachers and support staff, the grant funded initiative will expand to also support Elementary/Secondary, and Higher Education professionals, with services and resources provided at the EWC and its satellite site, community sites, and through virtual platforms.

Note: This is a grant funded position with available funding through February 2026.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Manages the day-to-day operations of the EWC, directing the work of EWC team engaging with educators to provide services and resources that support them through all three phases of the educator life cycle.
  2. Oversees and coordinates the development and delivery of EWC services to include professional development, job placement support, career advising/coaching, mentorship, and resource lending and learning library.
  3. Works with key stakeholders in implementing outreach and recruitment strategies to promote the EWC and inform individuals that are pre-, during, and post-academically in the field of early childhood of the availability of services and resources available to them through the EWC.
  4. Oversees the EWC membership process, developing procedures for the registration of education professionals as members of the EWC to gain access to CCC facilities, services, and resources.
  5. Plans and executes various EWC events to support members and to attract individuals to careers in the field of education with a focus on early childhood education, in collaboration with partner agencies and key stakeholders.
  6. Facilitates the development and launch of EWC webpage and a centralized job search tool to provide job placement services to early childhood educators.
  7. Oversees maintenance of EWC job search platform and landing page in partnership with Chicago Early Learning Workforce Scholarship and Chicago Early Learning.
  8. Develops and fosters partnerships that support the goals and objectives of the Education Workforce Center.
  9. Leads efforts to establish advisory board councils including member appointments to support the operations of the EWC.
  10. Works with advisory councils and partner organizations on developing strategies to ensure equitable access to services and resources and to ensure EWC remains responsive to educators’ professional needs.
  11. Oversees and monitors data collection to measure and assess site and program effectiveness including participation and service usage.
  12. Works collaboratively with the grant’s PI to implement processes to monitor, track and report on budget expenditures in compliance with grant requirement.
  13. Accountable for monitoring and reporting on overall performance of the EWC and its sites. Implements processes for maintaining data on use of services and resources; tracking of performance indicators; and reporting on achievements in meeting the grant’s goals and outcomes.
  14. Supervises and coordinates staff (e.g., EWC Education Specialist, clerical support, work-study student); monitors and evaluates performance; and fosters a cohesive workforce that provides professional assistance to students and EWC members.
  15. Supports special initiatives and improvement efforts undertaken by the Executive Director.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Higher Education or related field.
  2. Three or more years of work experience in the field of Education.
  3. A combination of education and experience may be taken into consideration based on the applicant’s credentials.
  4. Experience in professional development and facilitation.
  5. Experience in workforce development and career services.
  6. Experience in program development and oversight.
  7. Understanding of Illinois Educator Licensure, Endorsements, Chicago Public Schools, and the Department of Family and Support Services.
  8. Excellent organizational skills.
  9. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  10. Demonstrated commitment to diversity, inclusiveness, and equity in education.
  11. Must be able and willing to work some evenings and weekends.
  12. Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
