Primary Objectives of Position


This position plays an essential role in delivering long-term, sustainable, profitable growth for FlexiVan (FV) in the intermodal/marine chassis leasing industry. The primary responsibilities for the Director of Sales – Gulf Region is to support the defined Commercial and business strategy by building and cultivating targeted customer relationships, delivering on profitable new business and maintaining and growing the relationship with existing customers in the region. This role will lead the FV external and internal sales efforts in the Gulf Region and will work closely with senior leadership, Commercial sales team, Marketing, Operations, and with the other Regions to coordinate and collaborate on plans and actions to promote greater sales of all products and services including managed fleet (subscription).


Major Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Canvass the market to identify new customers for our products and services in alignment with the Company’s scope and commercial strategy with the expectation of securing new contract commitments that fulfill yield and profitability parameters. Target customers include, but not limited to, beneficial cargo owners (BCOs), motor carriers, Non-Vessel Owning Common Carrier (NVOCC) 3PL’s, IMCs, and others.
  2. Profitably sell all of our products and service offerings.
  3. Develop greater contract value by expanding relationships with existing customers for additional services and ensure a high level of customer satisfaction, business continuity, and preserving future growth potential.
  4. Expected to quickly understand and promote all FlexiVan products, terms, and pricing policy and be capable of presenting these proficiently to all current and potential customers.
  5. Develop and maintain detailed account profiles that identify key decision makers, operational contacts, sales revenue potential, and other essential customer insights that support the sale and relationship.
  6. Develop a sharp, focused marketing plan for the Region to include target market segments, corresponding customers, and potential for profitable product and service offerings.
  7. Establish a fluent understanding and use of Salesforce CRM, with updates and focus as directed through regular meetings with, and messaging from, Commercial management. Ensure high data integrity with respect to related account profiles and marketing plans.
  8. Establish a fluent understanding and use of FlexiVan’s internal systems & external facing platform to competently support day-to-day activities.
  9. Provide monthly reports as required by senior management to keep the organization appraised of market developments and sales progress.
  10. Assist with all aspects of customer issues including, but not limited to, service-related matters, collections, disputes, customer support, and assist to resolve operational issues to ensure customer satisfaction.
  11. Work closely with FlexiVan departments, including Fleet Operations, Logistics, Premium Ops, Fleet Admin, et al, to ensure our service delivery is meeting or exceeding customer expectations.
  12. Seek and capture market intelligence related to any matters impacting our service delivery, customers, and pricing competitiveness.


Job Specifications & Requirements

  1. Four-year college degree from an accredited institution preferably in Business/Business Administration, Supply Chain, Maritime, International Transportation, or Marketing & Communications.
  2. Minimum 8 to 10 years of professional Sales experience preferably in maritime logistics, motor carriers, or transportation/logistics. A combination of Sales and Operations experience in these industries will also satisfy the minimum work experience requirement.
  3. Highly proficient in professional selling, negotiating skills, and the ability to communicate on all levels.
  4. Skilled at planning, organizing, and executing sales strategy and business plans.
  5. Skilled at collecting, organizing, and analyzing data and information and to concisely summarize conclusions and critical recommendations.
  6. Excellent presentation, written, and oral communication skills.
  7. Advanced competency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint.
  8. Prior experience working with Salesforce CRM highly preferred.
  9. Ability to use and navigate a contract management system.

Travel Requirements: limited mostly within the region on an as needed basis to meet with customers with intermittent overnights, essential industry conferences and on occasion, there will be travel to the Headquarters’ office for strategy meetings.


Education Level:
Bachelor’s degree required.
