The ideal candidate should be licensed and should have a design portfolio of 15 years of general experience in commercial work. This role will participate in all phases of the design and construction from concept through construction administration. The candidate should have both strong visual, verbal and written communication ability. Revit, Excel, Power Point knowledge needed; Sketch up, Adobe Creative Suite is a plus. Opportunities exist for Higher Ed projects.

A Day in the Life as a Project Manager/Architect: As the person who oversees the technical delivery of the project, you will help lead the production and quality of the construction documents, coordinate with clients, vendors and consultants and assist the internal team on a number of duties key to the development and delivery of a given project. Here is a list of other responsibilities related to your role as Project Manager/Architect:


  • Provide high level, production supervision as necessary for work involving a variety of complex features such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, and difficult coordination requirements.
  • Take responsibility for managing all aspects of multiple small to large sized projects.
  • Prepare strategic plans for project success.
  • Coordinate all project efforts, administrative and technical, to ensure the most efficient and cost-effective execution of assigned projects.
  • Serve as primary client liaison to bring the schedule, budgets, and scope of work to completion and to the client’s satisfaction.
  • Actively manage client budgets, schedules, and programs, project communications and documentation, office administrative tasks, and project team assignments.
  • Estimate fees, determine scope of work, and prepare proposals.
  • Supervise the preparation, and check the accuracy of contract documents.
  • Incorporate applicable codes, construction techniques, and sequences in various projects including all aspects of cross disciplines.
  • Supervise and/or perform site observations, such as recording and reporting of existing conditions and construction progress.
  • Handle problems and questions as they occur during construction. Maintain responsibility for project cost control.
  • Responsible for external communications such as making telephone calls and preparing correspondence to clients, officials, and contractors as required by various projects.
  • Write reports such as feasibility studies, condition reports, and recommendations.
  • Supervise and perform building code reviews and prepare applications.
  • Responsible for major design decisions, involving spatial, aesthetic elements, and detailing of materials.
  • Document the progression of a routine project through correspondence, memos, etc. Follow routine projects through approvals and construction. Initiate contact with client and town officials.
  • Exercise professional judgment in areas of contractual liability.
  • Make public presentations.
  • Be a thought leader.
  • Support business development activities as necessary.
  • Perform other duties as directed.


About You: The qualifications of a project manager/architect are multi-faceted. The ability to effectively and confidently prioritize and execute tasks with many competing priorities and strategically lead a project team are key skills for the Project Manager/Architect. Here is a list of other required skills:

  • Bachelor of Architecture or equivalent
  • Registered as a licensed architect
  • 12-15 years combined experience as an intern architect and/or architect
  • Experience leading a project team
  • Knowledge of estimating project needs and capable of translating them into budget hours/costs
  • Ability to monitor the budget of a task or series of tasks and make necessary adjustments to keep on budget
  • Capable of providing leadership to a team that is performing a sequence of tasks
  • Ability to instill motivation to the team to meet projected milestones and capable of adjusting the procedures to keep the progress on target
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel software
  • Familiarity with Adobe software
  • Experience with Revit
  • Excellent grasp of building technology fundamentals
  • Thorough knowledge of relevant codes, operations, processes, and trends
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Ability to effectively and confidently prioritize and execute tasks with many competing priorities
  • Ability to absorb new ideas and concepts quickly
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Exceptional organizational and follow-through skills
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently

The Following Skills Would be an Added Bonus:

  • Master of Architecture
  • Experience with Newforma Project Center and/or Newforma Project Analyzer
  • Experience with Microsoft Project
  • Experience with Bluebeam PDF Revu
  • Additional relevant certifications indicating additional expertise such as for construction administration, interior design, LEED/Green Globes/sustainability, etc.
