Purpose for the Position:

The Group Sales Manager is responsible for proactively prospecting, facilitating, and closing group sales, catering sales, and business transient opportunities.

  • Exceeds individual assigned sales goals to assist in achieving budgeted revenues
  • Listens and reads the customer; identifies needs and responds accordingly
  • Continually targets and prospects for new business through individual creativity and innovation
  • Weighs the value of each piece of business against hotel objectives during the daily revenue meeting
  • Utilizes yield management techniques by negotiating room rates and function space commitments to enhance the hotels financial performance
  • Uses Revenue Management resources to help make informed decisions to maximize revenue
  • Understands revenue management principles, analyzes trends and patterns concerning the pricing and discusses the impact on hotel occupancy and revenue
  • Uses competitive market and market segment knowledge to devise innovative sales strategies
  • Understands sales strategies and tactics of competitor hotels; effectively capitalizes on hotels strengths and competitors weaknesses and capabilities

Skills And Abilities:

  • Identifies potential leads by using a wide variety of tools such as existing sales databases, trade magazines, the internet, and Readerboard
  • Maintains accurate sales system information on all new and ongoing leads and accounts, including solicitation efforts; accurately produces and reviews all sales contracts, rate agreements, and banquet/catering event orders

Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree preferred
  • Minimum of 1 to 3 years of experience as a Group Sales Manager with a proven track record of success
  • Experience at a similar size and quality hotel

Physical Demands:

Light Work exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally (occasionally: activity or condition exists up to 1/3 of the time), and up to 10 pounds force frequently (Frequently: activity or condition exists from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time), and/or a negligible amount of force constantly (Constantly: activity of condition exist 2/3 or more of the time) to move objects. Requires walking or standing to a significant degree, or requires sitting most of the time but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm and leg controls, or requires working at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and/or pulling of materials through the weight of those materials is negligible.

Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which Windsor Hospitality may establish, is essential to the successful performance of this position. Employees with irregular attendance/tardiness will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment. Upon employment, all employees are required to comply with Windsor Hospitality rules and regulations fully and will be subject to disciplinary action, including termination of employment.
