Sumitomo Electric Carbide Manufacturing, Inc. is looking for a Production Technician in New Berlin, WI. The Production Technician's primary responsibility is troubleshooting and resolving errors, and throughout their work, they must constantly log details for later reports and to provide updates. This position handles the technical requests associated with product demand and assists other engineers by contributing to product development and improving processes.
Salary: Up to $80,000 based on experience!

Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot Issues : by acting quickly to analyze the available data and find the root cause of the problem; by developing a solution or working with the engineering team members towards a solution while providing progress update s; by designing and developing programs for machining equipment to perform a complex series of progressive machining operations to meet precise tolerance and finish requirements; by setting up the autoloaders and promoting use; by advising what machine to use to get optimum capacity; by recognizing, reporting and correcting errors; and by ensuring production methods and quality standards In in compliance.
- Product Development : by participating in all stages of the product development process, including designing, building and testing; by creating useful tools to automate key processes or platforms where customers can send inquiries and reviews; by recommending tooling applications and operational sequences to assist in developing practical programming for new and unusual machining requirements; by finding and assisting with cost saving reductions in process time and quality improvements; by supporting installation of new machines into full production; and by supporting design engineering with simulation of tool concept designs for quotations.
- Training of Staff to Ensure Workflow Process : by interacting with employees and product users in various setups, including in-person meetings, phone calls, emails, and live messaging chats; by addressing concerns promptly and maintain a helpful attitude; by setting up the machines and instructing operators on the process, thereby allowing them to work with minimal assistance; by supporting Initiatives to improve operators' skill level; and by identifying process bottlenecks and devise solutions to resolve.
- Prepare Technical Documentation : by preparing extensive documentation when logging product issues, note all details, including observations, diagnoses, and action steps; by including other weekly reports summarizing production performance, release notes for upgrades and troubleshooting guides.
- Keeps Senior Management Informed : by reporting regularly to the General Manager Of Engineering and other members of the Production Group verbally and in writing in order to report progress, issues, results, and improvement ideas.
- Contributes to Team Effort by covering for other Staff as needed; by assisting in the transition of new Staff; by following internal policies and procedures; and by communicating business-related information to relevant Staff and Management.
- Maintains Professional Knowledge by maintaining up-to-date job skills; by proactively improving upon current job-related skills; and by learning new job-related skills as necessary.
- Acts on Constructive Feedback by using feedback from peers, Supervisors and customers to improve performance; and by recommending improvements to Department and Company work policies and processes where appropriate.
- Contributes to a Safe Working Environment by reporting any unsafe condition immediately to Management; by following Company safety guidelines; by wearing necessary PPE and taking the appropriate precautions against injury; and by properly maintaining equipment as applicable.
- Promotes growth of employees by promoting a positive work environment.
- 4 year degree preferred or 3-5 years relevant experience, or equivalent.
- Strongly preferred candidates have previous experience with CNC grinding equipment such as; Walter, Ewag, Rollamatic, ANCA, Waida, etc.
- Language Skills
- Ability to understand Company policies and procedures, safety guidelines, and general business documentation. forms, and instructions.
- Ability to verbally communicate.
- Mathematical Skills
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Reasoning Skills
- Ability to apply knowledge and understanding to carry-out detailed written or oral instructions.
- Ability to problem solve and communicate to management as needed.
- Other Skills
- Experience In the cutting tools industry or similar manufacturing industry desired.
- Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, planning sheets, sketches, and related technical data to determine tooling requirements, set up procedures, control settings, and machining methods and sequences.
