The University of Iowa Community Clinics is seeking a 100% Medical Assistant II (40 hours per week) to work at our Urology Northgate Medicine Clinic . University of Iowa Health Care's specialty clinic provides a convenient location for medical and surgical care for male and female patients, and selected services for pediatric patients . This position will mainly support our patients at Northgate Urology Clinic but could float to other clinic locations based on clinical needs/hours.
Our experts provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment in the clinic setting as well as surgical interventions for all urologic system diseases and disorders. Duties to include:
  • Staff will support our Urology Clinic.
  • Under direct supervision of physician, physician assistant, nurse practitioner or registered nurse.
  • Performs technical, patient care and related clerical functions in an ambulatory setting.
  • Duties may involve the use of electronic word/data processing equipment and/or conventional office equipment.
  • Driver's License and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards.

Percent of Time: 100% (40 hours per week)
Schedule: Monday - Friday; variable hours 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
Location: Iowa City, IA (occasional travel to other clinical locations within a 2 hour radius)
Pay Grade: 9
Salary: $40,264.16 - $59,798.88 / Hourly: $19.21 - $28.53 (based on years of experience)
Qualifications
Minimum Eligibility Requirements
  • Certification OR registration as a Medical Assistant OR completion of a recognized one year Medical Assistant Program, OR Completion of a health care profession program with a curriculum incorporating elements of a Medical Assistant program including but not limited to: pathophysiology, medical terminology, basic pharmacology and medication administration including dose calculation and psychology.
Special Qualification/License:
  • Driver's License and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards Availability to provide support to other clinical locations based on clinical need/hours
Desirable Qualifications
  • Previous Family Medicine or Urology Clinic experience is preferred
  • Previous experience in a team-orientated environment is preferred
  • Phlebotomy experience is preferred
  • Previous experience with computer skills and ability to navigate EMR - Epic, Word, etc.
