EDP Systems Analyst III (Network Infrastructure Team)

As a member of the Information Technology Services network infrastructure team, the Systems Analyst III provides technical support to the highest standards for the College by maintaining the performance, resiliency, security, and availability of all network communications, server infrastructure, and related services required in day-to-day operations for the College's staff, faculty, and students. This includes monitoring and maintaining the health, integrity, and security of systems located in the data center and throughout the network. This position will work closely with other members of Information Technology Services.


Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Perform troubleshooting and resolution of network security and system administration issues.
  • Monitor and maintain the security, health, and integrity of the network infrastructure.
  • Provide support for new staff and faculty user account creation and user account terminations as communicated by Human Resources.
  • Provide support for new student account creation.
  • Work with and manage telephone/voice, faxing, and printing related services.
  • Work with third-party contracted managed services vendors, including but not limited to Office365, Google Apps, Barracuda Email services, and Sophos Anti-Virus.
  • Identify user needs and resolve through appropriate technical infrastructure and services.
  • Monitor and resolve OIT Network Operations helpdesk requests, acting as Tier III escalation for Tier I and Tier II support staff.
  • Administration of switches, firewalls, and phone systems.
  • Apply security updates and patches to various network infrastructures.
  • Deploy and maintain network server, including Windows OS and Red Hat Linux OS.
  • Occasional travel to other Massasoit campuses (Canton and Middleboro) to perform related network administration and support duties as needed.
  • Focus on the Commonwealth's Equity Agenda by applying related best practices throughout all job functions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

Please Note - as little as two years of work experience may be required when combined with certain educational attainments, as outlined in the combinations below.

Applicants must have at least (A) four years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, professional experience in information technology, of which (B) at least two years must have been in work in which the major duties included systems analysis, or (C) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below.


SUBSTITUTIONS:
  • An Associate's degree with a major in the field of data processing or computer programming may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required (A) experience.
  • A Bachelor's degree with a major in the field of data processing or computer and/or information science may be substituted for a maximum of two years of the required (A) experience.
  • A Graduate degree with a major in the field of data processing or computer and/or information science may be substituted for a maximum of two years of the required (A) experience.
  • A diploma for completion of a two year full-time, or equivalent part-time, program in a recognized non-degree granting business or vocational/technical school above the high school level with a major in the field of computer programming may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required (A) experience.
  • An official transcript from a recognized business or vocational/technical school as evidence of completion of a program consisting of at least 650 hours of instruction in the field of computer programming may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required (A) experience.
  • Graduation from the data processing course of a recognized vocational/technical high school may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required (A) experience.

Preferred:
  • Experience supporting and administration of Microsoft Active Directory Services.
  • Experience supporting Office365 Applications and Google Apps administration cloud and related services.
  • Experience installing, supporting, and maintaining Microsoft Windows Server Operating Systems, Red Hat Linux, and VMware.
  • Experience implementing, supporting, and troubleshooting network infrastructure devices in a large production service environment, including switches and firewalls.
  • Experience with management and usage of multi-factor authentication solutions.
  • Experience working with Sophos security tools.
  • Experience with PowerShell or other scripting tools.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities, multi-task, and work effectively with other members of the technical team(s).
  • Ability to work occasional after-hours support as authorized.
  • Ability to work remotely if needed or be onsite as scheduled and travel between three campus locations.

Additional Information:

Position Status: AFSCME union position, full-time, state funded with benefits

Hours: 37.5 hours per week and occasional off hours when production implementations are scheduled.

Salary: 2,951.19 bi-weekly ($76,730.94 annual), Grade 23, Step 1
