The California Department of Public Health Center for Infectious Diseases Informatics Branch (IB) is recruiting for a Informatics Specialist IV to join an exciting team developing innovative solutions to strengthen CDPH's public health data ecosystem. The incumbent will join the team leading the design and implementation of disease prevention and control activities related to Covid-19 and other communicable diseases. Responsibilities will include the following:
- Applying advanced professional public health informatics concepts and extensive knowledge of industry practices to projects of all levels of scope and complexity.
- Leading project teams in developing innovative informatics and public health data collection, management, and analysis systems, and identifying and implementing strategies for improving existing public health surveillance data systems and infrastructure.
- Conducting complex data analysis, database design, and data quality assurance and quality improvement projects.
- Developing protocols and guidelines and providing information and technical assistance to support local health jurisdiction, community-based organizations, clinical, and other program partners in their application.
- Assuring completion of project deliverables, and participating in decision-making on budgets, hiring, and resource allocation.
Act as a technical lead to junior epidemiologists, junior informaticists, and data analysts. Additionally, this position requires strong programming (R, SQL, and/or Python) and/or informatics knowledge to support data analysis, database design, and data quality assurance and quality improvement projects. The position will interact and collaborate with several multidisciplinary CDPH teams as well as other internal and external partners as they contribute to communicable disease projects.
The salary range for this position is $108,800 - $203,300 (Annual Rate).
