Senior IT Project Manager – HR Technology focus
Chicago, IL – WFH 2 days/week (only local candidates are being considered)

Summary:
This Senior PM role will report to our Director of Operations, who handles special projects primarily for our Executive Director and CFO.

The big project at this time is the implementation of a resource management tool - we are hiring a number of new team members across various departments for this project (including on our IT and HRIS teams). You will work with the Director of Operations to guide the project holistically/from the big picture perspective and will work closely with those groups and with the executive director, who is sponsoring this project. They will work as a team to be the glue that holds everything together for this project and future projects.

This is a highly visible role that will work with cross-functional teams throughout a professional services organization – including IT teams, HR, and finance as a focus area to start. If you have a background in HR technology or have worked on any similar resource allocation automation projects, that would be a big nice to have. But in general, we are looking for a strong IT PM that can work effectively on internal projects within a professional services organization.

What you'll be doing
  1. Ensure successful project delivery from inception through completion.
  2. Create various project documents, including project charters, project plans, status reports, project risk assessments, and project gating presentations. Ensure relevant project documentation is created.
  3. Provide project gating presentations to the IT Directors during the various stage gates of their assigned projects.
  4. Report on the project pipeline, budget run, risks, issues, and mitigation plans for assigned projects.
  5. Resolve resource, timing, or other conflicts between projects.
  6. Contribute to the project management best practices and standards within IT.
  7. Other duties as required.

Skills we're seeking
  1. Bachelor's Degree is required, ideally in an IT related field
    • PMP is a nice to have
  2. 5+ years of experience with IT Project Management – with a software focus
    • Must have at least some experience with "packaged software” projects, including vendor selection, customization, implementation, continuous improvement, and post-implementation support
    • Any HR Technology experience is a big nice to have: HCM/HRIS, ATS, etc.
  3. Experience with PM software (we use Planview and Microsoft Project)
  4. Must be willing to work in a Waterfall environment, with flavors of Agile – but we are not moving to Agile anytime soon, so while Waterfall experience isn't required, you must be willing to work in this environment.
