Job Function
The Senior Accountant is responsible for preparing and reviewing financial statements, tax returns, and special consulting services, along with sales and payroll tax reporting.
We are hopeful that this position will lead to a position managing, leading, and training all levels of department employees. This position would also lead to managing client relations.
Professional Responsibilities
- Involved with engagement budgeting, delegating, and monitoring workloads, along with client satisfaction.
- Serves as departmental role model by adopting CDH core values and the Firm’s Five Star philosophy specifically in the areas of providing outstanding service to existing and potential clients; communicating effectively with team members and fostering a spirit of teamwork and continuous improvement.
- Analyzes, prepares, summarizes, and reviews financial statement reports.
- Reviews general ledger maintenance and bank reconciliations.
- Reviews the compilation of balance sheets and income statements.
- Assists and reviews client financial transactions records.
- Compiles and reviews financial reports for client management, such as cash revenue and expenditure analysis, accounts payable, and receivable.
- Assists clients with month-end closings.
- Maintains and reviews maintenance of cash, accounts receivable and accounts payable, inventory ledgers, and other full-scare bookkeeping responsibilities.
- Complies with federal, state, and company policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Performs and reviews financial calculations, such as amounts due, interest charges, balances, discounts, equity, and principal.
- Possesses knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices, the financial markets, banking, and the analysis and reporting of financial data.
- Understands the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making.
- Ability to determine how a client’s system should work and how changes in conditions, operations, and the environment will affect outcomes.
- Assists with and/or leads the engagement/assignment by serving as the liaison with the client and CDH staff.
- Informs principal-in-charge of any potential issues and pro-actively attempts to resolve any conflicts.
- Assists clients with utilization of accounting software.
- Reports organization’s finances to client’s management, and offers suggestions about resource utilization, tax strategies, and assumptions underlying budget forecasts.
- Frequently works with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, ProFx, QuickBooks, Sage 50, Sage Intact, and Bill.com.
Personal Responsibilities
- Pass the CPA exam.
- Continue to develop interpersonal skills, along with helping staff and interns.
- Attend professional development and training sessions on a regular basis.
- Maintain and expand knowledge base in area of expertise.
- Take proactive career steps through mentoring program.
- Participate in recruiting efforts as needed.
- Ability to work with no supervision and to lead a team through the project.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in accounting.
- Current CPA license preferred.
- 3+ years of public accounting experience or 5+ years of industry experience.
- Accounting software experience a plus.
- Federal and state tax knowledge a plus.
- Native and/or Business level Japanese language skill required.
- Ability and willingness to travel to clients occasionally within the Firm’s market area.
