Senior Business Analyst

Hybrid (Monday & Friday remote)

Position Overview:

Nationwide IT Services, NIS, is seeking a Business Analyst/Task Lead who will work with customers/stakeholders across various locations to elicit/gather and formally document requirements.


Duties and Responsibilities

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Work with stakeholders to help articulate business needs and goals, that would later be turned into requirements. This is not a requirement-gathering position – it is a senior analyst position.
  2. Performs research to help define best-of-breed user stories and requirements. For example, on a web design project, research on other sites and articles on best practices for customer experience.
  3. Work closely with stakeholders to define strategies for technical solutions, determine requirements, and develop functional designs based on analyzing business needs, objectives, and existing systems infrastructure.
  4. Applies technical knowledge in determining end-to-end design user stories and requirements for IT projects involving line of business, software/hardware developers, and vendors.
  5. Work closely with developers and testers to ensure requirements and functional designs are translated accurately into working technical designs and that test plans and scripts serve customer needs.
  6. Verifies that system requirements are traceable, consistent, complete, and testable.
  7. Writes checklist to track all components involved in application changes.
  8. Verifies that software applications perform by user stories and system requirements.
  9. Writes and maintains test plans based on software requirements and design documents.
  10. Recommends corrective action to ensure compliance with test plans.
  11. Tests software applications for concrete, consistent, observable results.
  12. Verifies function, performance, integration, and acceptance test results are in accordance.
  13. Clearly and accurately communicates test results to programming staff and/or appropriate management staff.
  14. Acts as liaison for application groups and external agencies.
  15. Develops and maintains comprehensive documentation on all standards and ensures that the information is appropriately published and distributed.
  16. Work in an agile environment to collaborate with diverse stakeholders to identify impacts, manage risks improve requirements, and develop solutions.
  17. Enter and help manage user stories and requirements in agile tools, such as Jira.
  18. Prepare deliverables in support of the task order, specifically a Requirements Document, Schedule and Cost Estimate, and a Product Statement of Work.
  19. Prepare weekly reports and meeting minutes as needed to report progress to management and customers.

Job Qualifications and Skills:

  1. Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  2. Minimum five (5) years relevant experience.
  3. Must possess or be able to acquire a Public Trust clearance.
  4. Superior verbal and written communication skills.
  5. Strong ability to elicit and document business needs and goals.
  6. Experience in an agile technical environment.
  7. Ability to track action items, develop metrics, and develop/track risk mitigation plans.
  8. Ability to work independently or in a team environment for the achievement of goals and objectives.
  9. Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to receive and provide information with clarity, courtesy, and tact.
  10. Demonstrate strong initiative, detail-oriented organizational skills, and an aptitude for analytical thinking.
  11. Ability to multi-task in a deadline-oriented environment.
  12. Ability to organize work, set priorities, and handle multiple projects.
  13. Ability to meet deadlines with a commitment to teamwork and an eye for detail.
