Currently, we are partnered with a preferred client in Boston, MA in search of a highly talented Senior Software Engineer .
Job Summary:
As a Senior Software Engineer in the Front-office Engineering organization, you will work closely with Quantitative Researchers and Portfolio Managers. Your challenges will be varied and may include onboarding new datasets, implementing new trading signals, developing portfolio optimization tools, building data visualization frameworks, enhancing research platforms, and performance tuning existing code using efficient numerical algorithms and cluster-computing solutions.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Develop mission-critical production systems for quantitative applications
- Work with large datasets, both structured and unstructured
- Implement and optimize trading signals and portfolio tools
- Enhance and maintain research platforms
- Collaborate with Quantitative Researchers and Portfolio Managers
- Contribute to continuous improvement of development processes and best practices
Qualifications:
I. Education:
- Degree with high mathematical and computing content (e.g., Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering or Physics)
- Strong academic record
II. Experience:
- 5-7 years of professional experience in software engineering, preferably with a focus on quantitative applications
- Experience developing mission-critical production systems
- Demonstrated experience working with large data sets
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Expert knowledge of Python and Pandas
- Proficiency with scientific libraries including NumPy, SciPy, statsmodels, and scikit-learn
- Strong Linux skills and understanding of Git
- Working knowledge of database technologies like MS SQL, Postgres, or MongoDB
- Experience with distributed computing technologies (e.g. Spark, Dask, Kubernetes) is a plus
- Knowledge of financial markets and instruments is advantageous
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication abilities
