Boston Children's Hospital Trust is the philanthropic resource for the hospital which provides vital funds to support our cutting edge research, community outreach, patient family programs and medical education.

Working as part of the Special Events team, the Development Officer, Community Based Fundraising will develop and implement strategies to attract, engage and retain fundraisers participating in Peer to Peer (P2P) and third party fundraising programs under the Fundraise Your Way umbrella.

This Development Officer, Community Based Fundraising will:

  • Identify, solicit, cultivate and steward approximately 100+ third party fundraisers annually.
  • Raise awareness and generate incremental revenue through established fundraising strategies for existing and new P2P programs.
  • Provide excellent customer service to support fundraisers throughout their fundraising campaigns, including frequent communications and outreach (emails, calls, written correspondence, etc.).
  • Provide resources to the P2P program participants within Fundraise Your Way and Virtual Toy Drive to ensure they have the tools necessary to be successful fundraisers.
  • Work closely with the Associate Director of Special Events to execute and further develop strategies and priorities that align with organizational goals.
  • Assist with additional peer to peer programs and events to support the Special Events team as needed.

To qualify, you must have:

  • Bachelor's degree and minimum of three years of progressive experience in development, fundraising, non-profit management or related field.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and written communication skills relating to management staff and donors.
  • Writing and analytical skills to express scientific, clinical, and research needs that require philanthropic support across the various departments at Boston Children's Hospital.
  • Ability to effectively deal with conflicting views or issues and mediate fair and workable solutions.
  • Consistent attention to detail, high level of productivity, solution oriented performer who can be responsive to both staff and donor issues.
  • Strong technical skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and the ability to develop proficiency in specific database management systems.
