About the Role
The Account Director has the primary focus of establishing/building positive client relationships and identifying value-added business opportunities/solutions for our clients. This individual will demonstrate thought leadership in working effectively with the clients and ADM’s supporting functions in developing, selling, and implementing associated products and services.
The Account Director will be a strong inspirational leader who can articulate a clear vision. The individual will have a proven track record of being a recognized leader of people in a customer service intensive environment. They will possess a clear track record of accomplishments in successfully growing volume, profitability, and client satisfaction. A minimum of five years of successful financial management experience is required. Finally, the candidate will have a clear understanding of how day-to-day and strategic decisions impact P&L.
Responsibilities:
Client Relationship Management
- Manage clients proactively and professionally, ensuring their expectations are not only met, but exceeded.
- Resolve issues escalated by the client and communicate significant issues to the Global Account Director.
- Develop and maintain networks and relationships among senior key decision-makers in client organizations.
- Develop strategies to capture viable business opportunities, presenting and communicating these to clients.
- Act as primary liaison between adm and client, always exceeding client expectations.
- Work alongside the company’s most senior leaders to continue driving the client relationship forward in a highly competitive and fast-paced environment.
- Develop strong relationships with both our clients and your internal counterparts.
- Collaborate with internal and external teams in the strategic planning and tactical execution of results-driven campaigns for POS/Premium related projects.
- Drive thought leadership and strategic deliverables for the future of the brands, identifying great innovative ideas in their infancy.
- Participate in the formation of proposals for business expansion within existing client sites.
- Lead operational involvement in the sales process for new business to meet expansion goals.
- Ensure the successful introduction and implementation of new contracts or services.
- Expand understanding of client’s business, their industry, and key developments.
- Participate in the strategic planning process for the region and develop effective strategic plans and objectives for all accounts.
- Ensure the effective deployment of regional and national resources to support the account base.
- Maintain an awareness of and exercise sound business judgment in such areas as market conditions, competitive activities, general economic conditions and related matters.
- Monitor campaigns to ensure all deliverables are on target, on brand and are delivered on time and within budget.
- Identify and communicate potential client efficiencies in terms of procurement patterns, buying cycles, product category focus, sustainability, and alternative POS/Premium development.
- Review assessments of operational and client issues at sites and troubleshoot significant operations/service delivery issues.
- Ensure the continuous review and improvement of client metrics and reports.
- Develop and maintain flexible staffing targets based on profitability.
- Manage the strategic allocation of resources.
- Build relationships with key vendors and ensure they are satisfying the business needs of the client base.
- Build relationships with support departments and key external suppliers, as appropriate.
- Foster a culture of excellence and ensure continuous improvement through the use of best practices.
- Accountability for overall financial performance of the account’s region against budget.
- Manage the budgeting process and present to the Global Account Director for approval.
- Ensure direct reports are clear about financial targets and support their achievements.
- Ensure a structured plan for profit enhancement is in place and is monitored closely for performance.
- Forecast monthly results at the mid-month timeframe.
- Develop and analyze the monthly performance and progress reports, including expense management and achievement of financial targets.
- Manage forecasting as required.
- Be alert to market opportunities, exploiting and cross-selling effectively.
- Work closely with all levels, including senior and executive management, managers and staff at client sites and within regional and corporate offices.
- Manage the selection, development, retention, motivation, and performance management of direct reports.
- Ensure all Human Resources matters are managed effectively and consistently.
- Establish credibility with direct reports, communicating effectively and ensuring a two-way process for sharing information is in place.
- Manage the succession planning process for site-based management and supervisory roles.
- Identify and ensure the training and development requirements of the team and work closely with the Global Account Director.
Qualifications
- Candidates will possess 5+ years’ experience working for a promotional product, or procurement outsource agency.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong project management skills.
- Excellent IT skills within all MS office suite.
- Must have experience servicing FMCG client brand teams.
- Understanding of individual cultural differences and ability to establish and maintain relationships with colleagues and clients.
- Team player that leads by example.
- Problem solving and the ability to identify and clearly present solutions.
- Willingness to travel, when required.
- Proven track record in managing Far East sourcing projects would be advantageous.
