THE BIM TEAM
Our Building Information Modeling (BIM) team maximizes pre-construction efforts by visually defining a project prior to construction so that conflicts are identified early, and adjustments are made with minimal impact. From field sketches to BIM, installation drawings and as-builts, we get the job done right and provide the highest-level of BIM documentation each project needs.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Corporate BIM Manager will be responsible for overseeing the company’s BIM strategy and execution across all projects. This includes working closely with both internal teams and external partners, including preferred BIM and VDC consultants, to ensure successful project delivery through the integration of advanced construction technology. The Corporate BIM Manager will be instrumental in creating well-defined, project-specific BIM strategies, fostering collaboration between preconstruction, prefabrication, modular, field management teams, project management teams, engineering and other stakeholders, and ensuring that technology is leveraged to maximize efficiency, accuracy, and project success.
Scope: Participates with other senior managers to establish strategic plans and objectives. Makes final decisions on administrative or operational matters and ensures operations effective achievement of objectives.
Complexity: Works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth knowledge of the company. Participates in corporate development of methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for projects, programs, and people. Ensures budgets and schedules meet corporate requirements.
Discretion: Erroneous decisions will have a serious impact on the overall success of functional, division, or company operations.
Interaction : Regularly interacts with executives and/or major customers. Interactions frequently involve special skills, such as negotiating with customers or management or attempting to influence senior level leaders regarding matters of significance to the organization.
Supervision: Directs and controls the activities of a broad functional area through several department managers within the company. Has overall control of planning, staffing, budgeting, managing expense priorities, and recommending and implementing changes to methods.
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement a comprehensive BIM strategy that aligns with the company’s goals for efficiency, collaboration, and innovation in project delivery.
- Project-Specific Technology Strategies: Ensure each project has a clearly defined and tailored BIM and technology implementation plan, aligning project goals with the most appropriate tools and processes to ensure seamless and effective project delivery.
- Team & Consultant Management: Manage, mentor, and develop an internal team of BIM professionals, while also managing relationships with external BIM and VDC consultants/partners to ensure consistent, high-quality performance across projects.
- Cross-Department Collaboration: Partner closely with internal teams including prefabrication, modular, preconstruction, field management, project management, and engineering, ensuring a cohesive approach to project execution.
- Stakeholder Communication: Utilize exceptional soft skills and communication abilities to facilitate clear and effective collaboration between all project stakeholders, bridging the gap between technical and non-technical team members.
- Technology Integration: Stay at the forefront of BIM and construction technology trends, implementing new tools and technologies that enhance project delivery and productivity.
- Quality Control: Establish and enforce BIM standards, procedures, and quality control processes to ensure the accuracy and reliability of models and data across all projects. Tailor BIM standards as needed on each project when required to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.
- Training & Development: Develop training programs for internal teams, and external BIM consultants when applicable, ensuring all relevant staff are proficient in BIM software, standards, and processes.
- Risk Management: Mitigate risks related to BIM coordination and model accuracy, ensuring that issues are identified early and addressed proactively.
- Reporting & Analytics: Provide regular updates to executive leadership on BIM performance, including metrics on efficiency gains, project outcomes, and technology ROI.
- Budget Development: Assist in the development and communication of strategic initiatives and proposed budget reallocations and/or budget changes.
- Budget Oversight: Throughout the year, manage approved budgets, ensure funds are utilized for approved intended purpose, monitor outcome of new initiatives, identify areas of need for following year.
ABOUT YOU
- Proven experience with BIM processes and technology in large-scale construction projects, preferably in the electrical contracting industry.
- Proficiency in BIM and related software (e.g., Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, BIM 360, Bluebeam, etc.).
- Proven understanding of project and field management, electrical construction, MEP coordination, and prefabrication/modular processes.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and soft skills with a proven ability to work effectively between diverse internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience working with and managing BIM and VDC consultants or external partners.
- Knowledge of construction technology trends and a passion for driving innovation.
- Experience working on multi-million-dollar and multi-billion-dollar construction projects, ideally in the $500M+ range.
- Experience with resource management and allocation; capable of managing 150+ BIM resources, including the internal BIM team and external BIM and VDC consultants, across dozens of active large-scale projects simultaneously.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
Experience: 10+ years of experience in the construction industry, preferably with an electrical contractor, with at least 5 years in a senior BIM/VDC leadership role.
