The UPMC Center for Emergency Medicine is looking to hire a Full-Time Education Coordinator, Paramedic.Schedule:48 hours per weekClinical requirementPurpose:To meet program goals, the Quality and Education Coordinator will assist the Education Manager, Medical Directors, and the rest of the Medical Operations team with the coordination of continuing education activities for the STAT MedEvac system. During routine operations, the Education Coordinator is expected to function as a flight nurse or a flight paramedic and adhere to the responsibilities of that position at a 1.2 minimum FTE commitment. This time may be adjusted based on a given education project/sessions with administrative approval.Responsibilities:Communicates in a professional and effective manner with STAT MedEvac employees, administration and customers. Contacts and updates the Education Manager and Medical Directors as needed regarding continuing education attendance and other issues. Contacts and updates the Quality and Education Manager and Medical Director of any Pennsylvania Department of Health (PA DOH) continuing education issues. Contacts the Education Manager regarding all administrative issues, including audio visual equipment and technology needs.Protects the privacy of all patient information in accordance with STAT MedEvac Policies and Practices, as required by State and Federal Law.Functions as a professional representative of the STAT MedEvac system and supports and upholds the mission, goals, and objectives of the system at all times. Utilizes proper channels for improvement of the system and will maintain a positive customer service approach at all times. Maintains a professional and neat appearance while working and representing STAT MedEvac during other functions. Maintains a cooperative, team-oriented working relationship with co-workers.Maintains documentation and reports on all patient records that are disseminated to appropriate individuals or entities.Assists the Quality and Education Manager and Medical Directors in the development and coordination of orientation and internal mandatory continuing education programs. Enhances clinical knowledge, skill maintenance and operational procedures in response to the STAT MedEvac Quality Improvement program recommendations and air medical industry requirements. Maintains a database regarding the STAT MedEvac orientation didactic sessions. Coordinates attendance and continuing education roster with Quality and Education Manager. Updates STAT MedEvac training calendar of external continuing education opportunities available for flight crew members. Assists with AED/CPR training of all non-clinical personnel in the administrative office building. Identifies areas for continuing education specific to the needs of the medical crews and STAT MedEvac system through documentation reviews, staff interactions, and customer needs to the Quality and Education Manager and Medical Directors.Assists the Quality and Education Manager in ensuring STAT MedEvac meets clinical staff education needs as outlined by the Medical Directors, regulatory, and accreditation bodies. Performs other duties as assigned by the Quality and Education Manager, Senior Director Medical Operations/Chief Clinical Officer, and Director of Medical OperationsAdheres to all clinical, operational, safety, outreach, and employee health responsibilities of a flight nurse or flight paramedicAccess protected health information and other patient information only to the extent necessary to complete his/her duties, and only share that information with individuals or entities with a `need to know? specific to the patient information.The clinical critical care transport requirement for ground and/or flight is at least 72 hours every 3 monthsBaccalaureate degree in any field preferred.Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a medical crew member required.The ability to manage staff with excellent skills in interpersonal conflict resolution is required. Must have a willingness to formulate, support, and implement program goals and objectives. The Education Coordinator must have superior clinical knowledge, skill, and judgement, with the ability to work productively and effectively within a complex Air-Medical/Critical Care Ground environment. Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Power Point, Excel) is required. The Education Coordinator must possess demonstrated ability to initiate and direct multiple projects, initiate and manage contracts, and meet deadlines for assigned tasks.Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:Driver's License. Passport (within 6 months of hire). Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation. Advanced Cardiac Life Support. Pediatric Adv Life Support. Neonatal Resuscitation Program (within 90 days of hire). NIMS 100 (within 90 days of hire). NIMS 200 (within 90 days of hire). NIMS 700 (within 90 days of hire). NIH Stroke Scale Certification (within 90 days of hire). FP-C (within 6 months of hire). NREMT-P EMT-P (based on home base assignment requirements). Trauma Nursing Core Course OR Intl Trauma Life Support OR Adv Trauma Life Support. OR Prehospital Trauma Life Supp (one required within 90 days of hire).
