The Information Technology Architect is an exciting new role, reporting directly to the CEO, and working directly with clients to translate their business needs and objectives into technical solutions.

Description

Responsibilities

  1. Work directly with clients to thoroughly understand their business requirements and objectives and determine technical and/or operational solutions to address their needs.
  2. Determine the level of effort, equipment, software, and service required to build comprehensive project plans with clear timelines and budgets for each project.
  3. Manage and execute projects to completion, communicating progress and considerations in line with expectations.
  4. Work with vendors as necessary to identify the best path forward.
  5. Perform security and functional evaluations of new products and services.
  6. Assist with auditing and documenting new environments.
  7. Present plans to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  8. Balance delegation of tasks to others and personal performance of the work as appropriate.
  9. Assist with day-to-day operational support and maintenance and take escalated tickets.
  10. Provide constructive guidance to fellow team members and mentor staff that report to you.
  11. Assist with the evaluation and scoping of new business opportunities.

Required Qualifications

  1. Strong command of information security best practices.
  2. Able to take an adversarial perspective when evaluating security controls.
  3. Experience building and securing solutions with modern cloud components (Google Workspace, M365, AWS).
  4. Comfortable designing solutions for Windows, Mac, and Linux environments (both desktop and server; mixed and homogeneous).
  5. Deep networking experience (wired and wireless).
  6. Experience troubleshooting complex issues involving multiple disparate systems.
  7. 10 years of professional experience in IT.
  8. 3 years in an IT management role.
  9. 3 years as lead architect for client engagements.

Desired Skills + Experience

  1. Working knowledge of NIST 800-171 / CMMC.
  2. Scripting and automation experience.
  3. Able to work with individuals along the continuum of skill, both clients, fellow team members, and direct reports; meet them where they are and help them progress forward in a positive manner.
  4. Able to get to the root of the request from a given client, gather information on conditions and requirements, craft a solution that is operationally and financially within reach, and see the project through to completion.
  5. Must be willing to take personal ownership of the environments, understand areas where improvements can be made, and help move them forward continuously through time.
  6. Able to present difficult / nuanced concepts in a manner that resonates with stakeholders such that they walk away understanding next steps and are empowered to take necessary action.
  7. Must be able to communicate progress in line with client expectations and keep stakeholders informed of any issues that come up in a timely manner.
  8. Willing to jump in and help, even if the task isn’t listed here, if it is necessary and benefits the team and/or stakeholders.

Location

Willingness to work at our office in Haverhill, MA (North of Boston) is preferable. Teleworking is an option for the right candidate.

Requirements

Our work for some clients is governed by US Federal regulations that require persons with access to the data to be US Citizens. US citizenship is required for this position. Qualified candidates must also be willing to submit to a background check. An active security clearance is not required, but candidates that are clearable are preferred.
