Position Summary

Responsible for the daily operation of the Sales Department.

Essential Functions

  1. Responsible for leading & driving top line revenue for sales segments to include group, business transient, and banquet & catering.
  2. Analyze and react to market trends, market share & the competitive hotel environment.
  3. Work closely with revenue management to develop strategies to maximize revenue and grow market share.
  4. Develop and implement action plans designed to achieve the desired positioning of the hotel, as well as manage the sales & marketing budget that supports all initiatives.
  5. Lead hiring, training, development, and management of the sales team.
  6. Act as the hotel's voice of the customer and communicate key issues/concerns at all levels of the organization.
  7. Maintain effective communication with other department heads, home office, and brand representatives.
  8. Fluent in reading/analyzing Smith Travel Research data, financial P&L, TravelClick, mix of sales, forecasting, group pace/position & a wide array of traditional hotel reporting.
  9. Conduct comprehensive competitive set reviews, SWOT analysis & stay updated on new supply.
  10. Understand source of business & ability to develop a plan to penetrate the primary markets.
  11. Develop/implement key segment strategies & manage key accounts (both existing & target accounts).
  12. Develop sales goals designed to achieve budget & market share targets.
  13. Manage the PMS and sales systems according to DHS’s guidelines.
  14. Manage sales activity & travel schedule.
  15. Work daily with sales staff to review status of business, schedules, priority assignments, and all information pertinent to the department operation.
  16. Establish annual room and B&C revenue budget and sales and marketing plan with the GM and other departments heads.
  17. Train sales staff and operations staff on new brand, marketing, or advertising promotions.
  18. Coordinates and maintains effective communication with other departments heads to ensure the hotel maintains excellent guest service and to promote the hotel.
  19. Adhere to all guidelines, procedures, and policies established by the hotel and DHS, including but not limited to, those contained in the employee handbook.

Qualifications

  1. Minimum of 7 years of experience in hotel sales, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role.
  2. Proven success in managing sales teams and delivering consistent revenue growth in the luxury hospitality sector.
  3. Strong network of contacts in the corporate, travel, and group sales markets.
  4. Excellent negotiation, presentation, and communication skills.
  5. Strategic thinker with a hands-on approach to business development.
  6. Proficiency in sales management software (e.g., Salesforce, Delphi) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  7. Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, hospitality management, or a related field.
