Grain Buyer

LHH is working with a great long-term client of ours in the agricultural industry. This client is a full-service grain and pulses company and is looking for multiple Grain Buyers and Grain Merchants to join their team in Portland, OR! The ideal candidate will have 2+ years of experience as a Grain Buyer, domestic grain trading experience, and experience working with the railcar vendors to coordinate logistics. Responsibilities

• Buy and sell bulk grain utilizing shuttle freight, DETs, COTs, single rail cars, and trucks
• Monitor railroad and barge performance, events, tariffs, and rail incentive programs
• Monitor export and domestic markets and arbitrage opportunities
• Coordinate grain shipments with elevator managers, other merchants, and customers
• Communicate with other company departments, vendors, and customers

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in agriculture or business-related field, or 4 years industry experience
• 2+ years of experience as a Grain Buyer, Grain Merchant or Grain Trader
• Domestic grain trading experience
• Experience working with the railcar vendors to coordinate logistics
• Great communicator and problem solver
