Our client located in New York is looking for an MRI Tech
Type: Temp to Perm
Schedule: Monday- Friday – 11am – 11pm – 3 x 12 hour shifts
Location: New York
Description:
* Operates magnetic resonance imaging equipment to produce cross-sectional images (photographs) of patient's body for diagnostic purposes by performing the following duties.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
* Interviews patient to explain magnetic resonance imaging procedures and request removal of metal objects which are hazardous to patient and equipment when magnet is activated.
* Positions patient on examining table and places specified coil (receiver) such as head coil or knee coil, close to area of interest, following protocols requested by Radiologist.
* Demonstrates use of microphone that allows patient and technologist to communicate during examination.
* Enters data such as patient history, anatomical area to be scanned, orientation specified, and position of entry into aperture of magnetic resonance imaging equipment (head or feet first), into computer.
* Keys commands to specify scan sequences, and adjust transmitters and receivers, into computer.
* Observes patient through window of control room to monitor patient safety and comfort.
* Views images of area being scanned on display screen to ensure quality of pictures.
* Proficient in MRI Safety, knowledge of MR Zones.
* Maintains patient care, comfort and safety during the exam.
* Maintains technical competency through continued education and participation in training programs.
* Under guidance and approval of site Radiologist, administers contrast agents according to site-specific protocols.
* Cooperates with facility healthcare personnel and complies with facility policies and procedures.
* Maintains current licensure to Practice in all states in which services are performed.
* Performs equipment quality checks and troubleshoots problems. Calls for service and notifies all pertinent team members.
* Maintains a clean environment inside and outside of the scanner.
* Follows quality assurance guidelines and maintains patient confidentiality.
* Cooperates with facility healthcare professionals and complies with facility policies/procedures and all safety policies and regulations.
* Performs additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
* ARRT registered as an MR technologist
* New York State Registered Technologist with Injection
* Active BLS training
