Accountant IIThe University of Mary in Bismarck, ND invites applications for an Accountant II. The position is responsible for monitoring and optimizing cash as well as general asset management for the University. This position also exists to support daily operations of the Business Office.Candidates will be invited to demonstrate a willingness to support the Christian, Catholic, Benedictine mission of the University of Mary.Benefits Include:Competitive wage based on experienceTuition benefitsRetirement benefits with an 8% matchMedical, Dental and Vision insuranceDiscounted Meal PlanDiscounted membership at the campus Wellness CenterEssential Roles and Responsibilities Include:General Ledger Journal EntriesMaintains the fixed assets databaseOversees insurance and risk management functionsAssists with preparation of the annual auditSupervise banking relationships and usage to maximize cash earnings and improve efficiencyExercises diligent oversight of cash flow managementSecurity and maintenance of electronic paymentsCoordinates 1099 processBackup to Accounting ManagerPerforms other related duties as requested and assignedDesired Minimum Qualifications, Education, and Experience include:Required: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related fieldRequired: A minimum of two years of previous accounting or finance experienceUpholds and supports the Christian, Catholic, Benedictine mission of the University of MarySupports the ongoing implementation of Ex Corde Ecclesiae, the apostolic constitution on Catholic colleges and universities.Builds a culture of ready and earnest hospitality in the Office of Financial Affairs and throughout the university, in accord with Saint Benedict’s admonition that all be received as Christ.Knowledge and Skills Required:Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principlesProficiency with Microsoft Office software applications, especially Word and ExcelAbility to learn and be proficient with in-house software applications, such as Jenzabar and CBORDAttentiveness to detail and an ability to enter data accurately and in a timely mannerAbility to work within a timeframe and meet deadlinesAbility to work well in a team environmentAbility to maintain absolute confidentiality and discretion in all matters related to the Office of Financial Affairs and associated areas of responsibilityAbility to represent the Office of Financial Affairs with integrity and a high level of professionalismAbility to use a high degree of tact, discretion, and diplomacy in dealing with sensitive situations and individualsStrong organizational skills and an ability to set priorities and exercise sound independent judgment within areas of responsibilityAbility to understand, interpret, explain, and apply rules and policies applicable to areas of responsibilityAbility to organize and maintain a filing system and document management databasesExceptional verbal and written communication skillsAbility to prepare clear, accurate, and concise correspondence, records, reports, and other documentsWe thank you for your interest in the University of Mary.
